Standing in the midst of majesty and might, Jesus said that if we have faith as small as a mustard seed, we can look at the mountains in the distance, tell them to move, and they will (Matthew 17:20). Chris McCurley, the editor of this volume, has assembled ten different writers to cover a wide swath of material. In eleven chapters, McCurley and his colleagues manage to cover many of the areas wherein preachers need continual encouragement.

Life isn’t for the faint of heart. People can be mean. Friends can turn their backs. Spouses can walk away. Employers can terminate without cause. Churches can unjustly accuse or unfairly assume. But how about some good news? In Christ alone, we can have a second shot at life. Today’s picture does not have to be tomorrow’s portrait. We can finish stronger and better than we began. Furthermore, we’re surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses (Hebrews 12:2) who experienced their own transformation and are cheering for us to do the same.
