The Mammoth Site of Hot Springs South Dakota announced in 2011 that it now has discovered 60 specimens of prehistoric animals in this unique paleontological site. This is where, more than 26,000 years ago, large Columbian and woolly mammoths were trapped and died in a spring-fed pond. Now we visit the in-situ site. Dr. Larry Agenbroad, founder of the site, is our guide.

Audio Journeys explores a small patch of some of the Republic of El Salvador's last remaining rainforests. Fifty spider monkeys live in the canopy of 300-year-old trees. The spider monkeys are protected as long as they stay in this very small area, known as the Chaguantique Nature Reserve.

The spring forms a pool before gliding from the rocks to become the mighty Mississippi River, most people believe. Itasca is a derivative of two Greek words that mean "true" and "source".

The Baltimore Clipper ship Frolic was bound from Canton, China, to San Francisco with household goods for gold miners. The shipwreck of the Frolic lead to the founding of the town of Mendocino, California, and the discovery of redwood trees. We speak with archeologists who are studying this important early California event. The Frolic Shipwreck is now a California Underwater State Park.

Preserving a California nature preserve.... Audio Journeys by Travel Radio International explores the Rodman Nature Preserve with preserve guides. The Rodman preserve is next to Clear Lake, the largest freshwater lake completely within California.

Audio Journeys' exploration of Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park continues. In 1937 vaudeville and silver-screen actor Leo Carrillo (the Cisco Kid) purchased, and preserved over 2,000 acres of the southwest US's rolling hills. The 27 acres that remain today are known as the Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park. Our tour of the Carrillo Ranch includes the Spanish-style home, barns, and other out buildings.

Audio Journeys explores Copan, the ancient cultural center of Honduras. For years, Copán has been renowned for its magnificent Mayan ruins, a designated World Heritage Site believed by archeologists to be the cultural center, the Paris, of the Maya world.

Rochester New York was a major stop over on the Underground Railroad, a system of people and safe-haven houses that assisted enslaved African Americans escaping to freedom. We tour the Circle of Hope with Aquaba Tours.

Not an actual train, in the mid-1800's, the Underground Railroad transported and protected escaping enslaved Africans through a network of safe houses and places, on their way to freedom in the North.

Fort Ross State Park California. Fort Ross, was a Russian Fur Trading Outpost between 1812 and 1841, never a military fort. Original builds and replicas tell of a short lived Russian history in California. Fort Ross is one of the oldest parks in the California State Park System.
