Despite being poor and from a broken home, carefree eight-year-old Paul is a happy and contented lad; that is until his mother marries the beast, and then everything changes. What he doesn't know, is how to handle the ensuing abuse, neglect, and violence. The next 40-plus years of his life constantly flips from black, dark periods of addiction and chaos, followed by white, light bursts of progress. What a disaster and waste - will alcoholism keep him in its vice-like grip?

One thing that’s never been attached to Paul is the label ‘normal’ – something he is totally aware of. He definitely subscribes to being one of those mentioned the iconic ‘Think Different’ Apple commercial narrated by Steve Jobs in 1977: “Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race ...
