Some people, it is said, have the "Midas touch", and all that they touch turns to gold. For Elena Ellery, however, the opposite is true. Everyone that Elena comes into contact with, fares badly. When gold is discovered on what was historically believed to be her father's property but was never registered to him and the placer miners who discovered the gold are shot dead by her family in an unfortunate misunderstanding, this unleashes a chain of events that affect the rest of her life.

Aging bounty hunter Cody Stenger determines to retire from his violent lifestyle and to find somewhere peaceful to settle down. He finds himself in the small town of Three Points Arizona where he befriends a small boy and his mother. Not wanting to be drawn in to the problems and corruption perpetrated by the deputy and his kin in this small town, Stenger attempts to move on but trouble follows him.

Assisted by Luv Lass a young newlywed named Darcey Teller seeks to identify and to bring to justice her murdered husband's killers. Using Darcey's expertise as a photographer, the two unlikely heroines devise a machination they refer to as "The Kill Shot" as a means of accomplishing this deadly task. But first they must do battle with each other, with their own social differences and with Darcey's desire for vengeance over justice, before ultimately battling it out with the bad men.
