As a young child, I always enjoyed the magic, the wonder, and rhythmic storytelling of nursery rhymes, from around the world. Now as an adult, some of those memorized verses, can be interpreted differently than I remember, however, I cannot help but be transported back to a time of childhood innocence, whenever they come to mind. I have selected several of my favorites verses for this book, and I hope that they will continue to delight and inspire, young and old, for generations to come.

First published in the Bulletin in the nineties, Paterson's verse has enjoyed enduring success throughout Australian literary history. "The Jungle Book" (1894) is a collection of stories by English Nobel laureate Rudyard Kipling. The stories were first published in magazines in 1893-94. The original publications contain illustrations, some by Rudyard's father, John Lockwood Kipling. Kipling was born in India and spent the first six years of his childhood there. After about ten years in England, he went back to India and worked there for about six and a half years. These stories were written when Kipling lived in Vermont.
