This is probably Madame Blavatsky's most listenable book, usually published under the title From the Caves and Jungles of Hindostan. It contains much of her spiritual travels throughout India with a number of keen observations. In many ways, this is a pioneering work by a feminist intellectual way ahead of her time.

In this classic 1948 memoir, now in its fourth edition, Caroline Pratt recounts, in a wry authorial voice much closer to Will Rogers than John Dewey, how she founded what is now the dynamic City and Country School in New York City; invented the maple "unit blocks” that have become a staple in classrooms and children’s homes around the globe; and came to play an important role in reimagining preschool and primary-school education in ways that resound in the tumultuously creative age before us.

This is a delightful selection of old magical stories from the Punjab, including the wonderful adventures of Raja Rasalu. Reminds one, of course, of the Arabian Nights. Enthralling and enjoyable from a forgotten time not too long ago.

Perhaps science's greatest contribution is that at its best it is open to refutation and is thereby open to change.

Our purpose is to introduce young listeners to a vibrant world of language while enhancing their vocabulary with SAT-level words. I bring up the subject of Gumby and the spiritual claims surrounding him because I am often asked in class about the verdicality of certain metaphysical claims that abound in religious mythologies. My usual rejoinder is that we don’t want to enter into “Gumby Land” when doing philosophy since most of these kinds of questions (how many angels can sit atop an empty coke top?) are literally non-sense (in the precise definition of that term as first coined in the 17th century).
