Stiamo lasciando volontariamente aperte le porte della nostra civiltà ai barbari, dimenticando le nostre radici greche e romane? La identidad con lo divino es un caro anhelo para los místicos de todas las épocas y tradiciones culturales, incluyendo los místicos occidentales cristianos. El pensamiento de Plotino sería estimado considerablemente por filósofos posteriores, incluyendo a los padres de la Iglesia Católica como por ejemplo el célebre San Agustín.
