Special needs is an umbrella term that is used for a wide variety of diagnoses, from those that are relatively mild to those that are profound and from those that resolve quickly to those that are challenging for life. Special needs children may have developmental issues, medical issues, behavior issues, mental health issues, or learning issues. Special needs parents, out of necessity, are often more compassionate, resilient, flexible, and even stubborn than other parents.
