Actual true crime is not like watching an episode of CSI. Even television true crime documentaries can skim over the sticky details. Real true crime can be unsettling for many people. However, I do my best not to leave out any details in my audiobooks. My intention isn’t to shock but rather to give the listener a glimpse into the killer’s mind. I don’t begin to think that I can understand the mind of a diabolical monster, but I can guarantee that curiosity will keep us listening and endlessly searching for answers.

In 1991, flight attendant Nancy Ludwig checked in to an airport hotel near Detroit. In 1985, 55-year-old Margarette Eby, a music professor, met the same grisly death at her cottage in Flint, Michigan. Peter Woodcock was Canada's youngest serial killer when, at the age of 17, he brutally raped and murdered two boys and a girl between the ages of four and nine. He was never put on trial by "reason of insanity", and instead was confined for 34 years in a criminal psychiatric facility and offered treatment. On July 13, 1991, he finally had earned his first day pass ever and was allowed to briefly go off the facility grounds into town to visit a DQ for an ice cream. What Woodcock did within the first hour of his first day pass stunned many people and made national headlines.

I try to give my listeners a clear and accurate description on just how demented the killers really were. I do my best not to leave anything out. The stories included in these books are not for the squeamish.

While some of these cases are sure to tickle the memory of any true crime enthusiast, some might just be new to you. One thing all these cold cases have in common is that they’ve finally been solved, some with incredibly shocking outcomes.
