About this listen

Henry Bins is only awake one hour a day.

Can you imagine only being awake for one hour each day? Can you imagine having to cram your entire existence into sixty measly minutes? Two minutes to shower. Three minutes to eat. Five minutes to watch TV. And in that 3600 seconds you have awake, imagine that you have to figure out:

  • Who murdered the woman across the street? (You suspect it was the President of the United States, but can you prove it?)
  • Why did your mom abandoned you when you were six years old? (Was it because she worked for the CIA? Or was it because of your condition?)
  • What caused your strange condition where you wake up at exactly 3:00 a.m. then fall asleep exactly an hour later, then sleep for twenty-three hours? (Were you experimented on? If so, by who?)
  • And most importantly, what is Project Sandman?

Welcome to Henry Bins’s life.

Very entertaining

Loved the stories and the narrator. Humour, light mystery, even a bit of romance thrown in, all told by an excellent narrator. Glad I was listening with earphones so I didn’t have to put it down!

Great story and narration.

I enjoyed this series a lot more than I expected too. I had kept putting off listening until I saw it was going to be removed from the Plus Catalogue. I am so glad I listened to it. The story was a lot of fun to listen to and I found the narrator to be perfect for this series. It does have some fantasy elements so do not expect a set in reality thriller. You need to approach this series with an open mind to accept the premise and a few other things such as Lassie's relationship with the protagonist. I highly recommend the "3 a.m. Series Premium (Books 1 - 5).

Entertaining book, quite enjoyed it.

I found all the books well written, the story drew you in, though I could have done with less meows...loved narration.

Fun and thrilling

Jamie Renell does a spectacular job narrating this quirky series of mystery thrillers surrounding Henry Bins, our hero who sleeps 23 hours a day, due to a rare disease named after him. In book one he witnesses what he believes to be the President committing a murder…and this kicks off five books (and counting!) of murder, mayhem, espionage and international incidents.

If you’re a stickler for your fiction being 100% plausible, then give this a pass; but if you want a little (almost) sci-fi fixing with your mysteries, this is the stuff for you. Each of these five books is great in its own right, but by Book Three this turns a corner and is truly amazing.

Absolutely brilliantly written and narrated!!

I thought this novel, written by Nick Pirog and narrated by Jamie Renell, was absolutely brilliant!! The stories were great! The conversations with Lassie were hilarious, and eventually made sense. And the ending was so bittersweet! By the way, TMS is real; I was treated with it for depression and it works (but I didn't lose my memory). I want to read more of Nick Pirog, and only hope it will be as good as this!

Damn cat

Loved everything about this story/performance. But I ended up speeding over the meows. They were very annoying. Though I did enjoy the rapport between man and cat. But maybe a mute cat would have been more tolerable.

Good premise, bad cat

The whole idea of only being awake one hour a day is very compelling however, the increasing telepathic abilities of the cat and dog just takes any serious reader right out of it. This should belong in Science Fiction and fantasy.
