Publisher's Summary

A New York Times Bestseller

“A smart, edge-of-your-seat story with plot twists you’ll never see coming. Stacy Willingham’s debut will keep you turning pages long past your bedtime.” —Karin Slaughter

When Chloe Davis was twelve, six teenage girls went missing in her small Louisiana town. By the end of the summer, her own father had confessed to the crimes and was put away for life, leaving Chloe and the rest of her family to grapple with the truth and try to move forward while dealing with the aftermath.

Now twenty years later, Chloe is a psychologist in Baton Rouge and getting ready for her wedding. While she finally has a fragile grasp on the happiness she’s worked so hard to achieve, she sometimes feels as out of control of her own life as the troubled teens who are her patients. So when a local teenage girl goes missing, and then another, that terrifying summer comes crashing back. Is she paranoid, seeing parallels from her past that aren't actually there, or for the second time in her life, is Chloe about to unmask a killer?

From debut author Stacy Willingham comes a masterfully done, lyrical thriller, certain to be the launch of an amazing career. A Flicker in the Dark is eerily compelling to the very last page.

Easy listening

It's a good and enjoyable story but somewhat predictable. Or maybe I analyzed the characters more than usual haha.

Great Story Concept !

Overall I really enjoyed it. There were just a lot of confusing transitions like suddenly it would be in the future and then the past and it would take a bit to catch up and figure out what was going on. Otherwise it was great a lot of twists and turns kept me guessing right to the end.

Not my favorite

While there were a lot of plot twists in this book it felt like it would never end and was also a bit too far fetched for me. I didn't like the main character Chloe, too much back and forth between playing a victim and trying to be the hero.

Predictable

This book was ok. The storyline is very predictable with unnecessary twists. The narration was well done.

Easy to predict

It kept me engaged although I guessed what was happening very early on. I liked the characters though.

great story

This was a great listen. A little predictable in who the killer was, I was expecting a bit more of a twist but will recommend to others.

Three Stars

The narration was done wonderfully! However, the book itself was just alright. I was hooked into the actual story, but had trouble connecting with the characters or feeling like they were fully thought out people. Also, the plot is very predictable, with some elements in it that I personally felt were unnecessary and just thrown in for nothing. Not the worst thing I've read, but a little underwhelming for sure.
