Publisher's Summary

Only his memories can save her…

A great primal power has risen. The Queen of Flesh and Fire has become the Primal of Blood and Bone—the true Primal of Life and Death. And the battle Casteel, Poppy, and their allies have been fighting has only just begun. Gods are awakening across Iliseeum and the mortal realm, readying for the war to come.

But when Poppy falls into stasis, Cas faces the very real possibility that the dire, unexpected consequences of what she is becoming could take her away from him. Cas is given some advice, though—something he plans to cling to as he waits to see her beautiful eyes open once more: Talk to her.

And so, he does. He reminds Poppy how their journey began, revealing things about himself that only Kieran knows in the process. But it’s anybody’s guess what she’ll wake to or exactly how much of the realm and Cas will have changed when she does.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout revisits Poppy and Casteel’s epic love story in the next installment of the Blood and Ash series. But this time, Hawke gets to tell the tale.

What the critics say

“Narrator Tim Campbell returns to the role of Casteel Da'Neer in the fifth book in the Blood and Ash series.… Tim Campbell captures the sarcastic and flirtatious sides of the prince. Campbell's sonorous voice is as easy to fall in love with as the character of Casteel, making Campbell the perfect casting choice.”AudioFile Magazine

“Expertly and vividly performed with the impressive narrative vocal styles of Tim Campbell, this…will have a very special attraction to fans of vampire romance fantasy fiction. Original, self-contained, and a must for the growing legions of Jennifer L. Armentrout fans.”Midwest Book Review

Enjoyed memory lane

I liked hearing a different perspective and I love the first book that started this journey. Especially cause I'm still mad at The War of Queens. If you know you know. so this was a nice change. the ending was great too!

A bit disappointing

I agree with the other reviews. It’s one thing to remind us of their story and see the story from his perspective, but this is just too much of the same story twice. There’s not enough of the new story or continuance of the series. I have loved the series in general but was really looking forward to more of a next chapter. This was a bit of a let down.

Wtf.

I’m disappointed. This is basically a recap of the first book from Cas’s perspective. It actually kinda felt lazy. It was essentially the same story. I didn’t even feel like Casteel’s point of view added that much or was that interesting. It was a good book because it was just as good as the first, because it WAS the first book just with a bit of notes added. I had higher hopes.

Amazing POV for Casteel

Really enjoyed this book of Casteel’s POV. Other reviews say it’s not worth the credit but I think it is as it gives you his side of the story from the beginning. Since it’s Casteel’s POV from the first book it’s obviously the same story line but narration was excellent. You can tell that Tim and Stina worked well together to ensure this book as aligned with the first book. And Jennifer gives us a tiny glimpse of what’s to come.

Cute- minimal new information

It was great re experience it from Cas’s perspective and there are some answers given- but more questions do come up too. It covers all of book almost scene for scene. Narrator is immaculate.
