About this listen
Life for Lady Adelaide Bell was easier if she hid in her older sister's shadow - which worked until her sister got married. Even with the pressure of her socially ambitious mother, the last thing she expected was a marriage of convenience to save her previously spotless reputation.
Lord Trent Hawthorne couldn't be happier that he is not the duke in the family. He's free to manage his small estate and take his time discovering the life he wants to lead, which includes grand plans of wooing and falling in love with the woman of his choice. When he finds himself honor bound to marry a woman he doesn't know, his dream of a marriage like his parents' seems lost forever.
Already starting their marriage on shaky ground, can Adelaide and Trent's relationship survive the pressures of London society?

Way to much religion and mentions of god
The author has written a religious book, it is overwhelming & overtakes the story. The characters are flat and aren’t capable of having conversations. It’s painful.

Bible thumper
This book is clearly written by someone who wants to surmonize the masses. Her other books mention a belief and disbelief in god depending on the story but this one expounds on bible verses and quotes many, reading them in full. It is a painful listen. And that’s the story!
I have listened to all in this series and lived all but this and the second, read by this TERRIBLE reader, however she has improved minutely from the last book, but she is colourless and dull in her reading. The first book was the best I’d ever heard, so cheeky and sassy with characters so full of life.
This is flat. The characters don’t pop out and come to life with this reader as they do with the reader if the other books.
I can’t even finish listening. I returned the first by her, the second in the series, but then I was so curious how this story went I listened to a sample and thought I could put up with her. She’s great for a nap.
I believe in God and the bible and am very devout, but this woman is beyond. I would never surmonize my readers or listeners.
Let the buyer beware!
