About this listen
A little book with a big heart!
“I read this beautifully imagined and moving novella in one sitting, utterly wowed, wanting to share it with everyone I know.” (Lisa Genova, best-selling author of Still Alice)
From the New York Times best-selling author of A Man Called Ove, My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry, and Britt-Marie Was Here comes an exquisitely moving portrait of an elderly man’s struggle to hold on to his most precious memories, and his family’s efforts to care for him even as they must find a way to let go.
With all the same charm of his best-selling full-length novels, here Fredrik Backman once again reveals his unrivaled understanding of human nature and deep compassion for people in difficult circumstances. This is a tiny gem with a message you'll treasure for a lifetime.

Story
Lucas knows the perfect night entails just three things: video games, wine, and pad thai. Peanuts are a must! Other people? Not so much. Why complicate things when he’s happy alone? Then one day the apartment board, a vexing trio of authority, rings his doorbell. And Lucas’s solitude takes a startling hike. They demand to see his frying pan. Someone left one next to the recycling room overnight, and instead of removing the errant object, as Lucas suggests, they insist on finding the guilty party. But their plan backfires. Colossally.

Story
People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest, it is slowly losing ground to the ever encroaching trees. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink, built generations ago by the working men who founded this town. And in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe tomorrow will be better than today. Their junior ice hockey team is about to compete in the national semifinals, and they actually have a shot at winning.

Story
It begins on the shaded town square in a sleepy Southern town. A spirited seven-year-old has a brisk business at her lemonade stand. But the little girl’s pretty yellow dress can’t quite hide the ugly scar on her chest. Her latest customer, a bearded stranger, drains his cup and heads to his car, his mind on a boat he's restoring at a nearby lake. The stranger understands more about the scar than he wants to admit. And the beat-up bread truck careening around the corner with its radio blaring is about to change the trajectory of both their lives.

Story
The correspondence between Carrie Allsop and David Mayer reveals, piece by piece, the painful details of a devastating affair between their spouses. With each commiserating scratch of the pen, they confess their fears and bare their souls. They share the bewilderment over how things went so wrong and come to wonder where to go from here. Told entirely through the letters of two comforting strangers and those of two illicit lovers, Evidence of the Affair explores the complex nature of the heart. And ultimately, for one woman, how liberating it can be when it’s broken.

one of my all time favourites.
Backman writes in a way that immerses you in every line. Simple yet powerful writing, that makes you reflect and celebrate the little things.
the narrator captivated each character in their voice perfectly.

Such an amazing story!
This is my first Fredrik Backman book, but it definitely won’t be my last! I loved, loved, loved this story! As for the narrator, I’ve seen him as an actor before (I’m pretty sure he was on St. Elsewhere back in the day, but he’s been on many other tv shows and movies, as well). I’ve always loved the roles he’s played, and now I love him as an audiobook narrator, too! Five-stars from me in every possible aspect! Highly recommend!!

This would be the natursl saga of a Brilliant Mind
I absolutely loved it. The story we've between the characters and the Grandfathers spiral in and out of reality like a seemless dance routine. Not jarring but delicate, and with grace and sophistication.

Beautifully Wriiten
I love Fredrik Backman’s writing style and this one does not disappoint - it will resonate with anyone who’s been on a similar journey or not. He has brilliantly captured the mystery, fear, love and emotion. I’m so glad he decided to share this work. Narration was wonderful.

I smiled, cried and loved.
This is such a beautiful novella. It touches you in places you didn’t know you had. Bachman writes with so much soul and beauty. I have enjoyed every one of his books and never forget a single one. They come back to me at the strangest and most opportune times. I know this one will do the same.
