About this listen
When the over-driven hyperdrive on their mobile shipyard burned out, the Chhrt'ktk't abandoned it in an inhabited system along their path, hoping it would work as a decoy to buy them more time to escape the Khreetan fleet pursuing them.
They didn't anticipate how far the pre-spacefaring species they turned over their broken-down maintenance facility to would subvert their plan.
Alex Holder, a retired engineer, just happened to be in the right place, at the right time, with the right mindset, to find himself chosen by the Chhrt'ktk't to hand over control of their shipyard to, simply because he was the first person they found able to interface with it. The Chhrt'ktk't could not possibly anticipate what he would do with it. And neither would anyone else.

new take
this book is a nice new take on sci-fi at least as far as I've seen of sci-fi on audible focusing on more kingdom build like book style of story with minimal action and with said kingdom building all happening in space with almost none plant side. the only criticism I have is that the narration is alliteration off because of lack of pauses in sentences when there should be and other odd slight things off with the way recording were stitched together but these are minor issues and in now way detract significantly from this great book.

When does it start?
DNF at about 50%
I like the idea and maybe there is a pretty good book in there some where. At the point I stopped all that had happened is in the description and MC had played with his new toys by himself. Essentially no other characters or character interactions. I couldnt keep listening to MC talking to an AI about designing his rooms making towels and all the alien technology that could fix the world. A world he doesn't feel strongly for and has no major conflict. At the halfway mark I expect a book to have some conflict.
