Publisher's Summary

DON’T MISS SEASON 2 OF THE GOLDEN GLOBE AND EMMY AWARD-WINNING HBO® SERIES STARRING REESE WITHERSPOON, NICOLE KIDMAN, SHAILENE WOODLEY, LAURA DERN, ZOË KRAVITZ, AND MERYL STREEP

From the author of Nine Perfect Strangers, Truly Madly Guilty, and The Husband’s Secret comes the number-one New York Times best-selling novel about the dangerous little lies we tell ourselves just to survive.

A murder.... A tragic accident.... Or just parents behaving badly? What’s indisputable is that someone is dead.

Madeline is a force to be reckoned with. She’s funny, biting, and passionate; she remembers everything and forgives no one. Celeste is the kind of beautiful woman who makes the world stop and stare, but she is paying a price for the illusion of perfection. New to town, single mom Jane is so young that another mother mistakes her for a nanny. She comes with a mysterious past and a sadness beyond her years. These three women are at different crossroads, but they will all wind up in the same shocking place.

Big Little Lies is a brilliant take on ex-husbands and second wives, mothers and daughters, schoolyard scandal, and the little lies that can turn lethal.

What the critics say

“Ms. Moriarty’s long-parched fans have something new to dig into...Big Little Lies [may have] even more staying power than The Husband’s Secret.” (The New York Times)

“Funny and thrilling, page-turning but with emotional depth, Big Little Lies is a terrific follow-up to The Husband’s Secret.” (Booklist, starred review)

“Moriarty demonstrates an excellent talent for exposing the dark, seedy side of the otherwise “perfect” family unit... Highly recommended.” (Library Journal, starred review)

Big Little Lies Review

The story is fantastic, it keeps you listening and wanting to know more until the big reveal at the end. I will say I didn’t love the narrator, her voice kind of grates on your nerves a bit, but the story was worth it to push through. Definitely worth a listen. #Audible1

Excellent Listen. Absolutely worth it.

I enjoyed the brilliant characters and unpredictable story. The performance by Ms. Lee is second to none.

Narrator's Voice threw me

I had difficulty enjoying the narrator's voice. In hindsight I think it affected how much I enjoyed the novel.

excellent entertainment

I loved how the story evolved and she kept you guessing the whole time. I listen to books while I sew and sometimes miss a bit, but not this story, I would go back and re-listen, didn't want to miss anything. great narrator!

great book, but the narrator was not the best choice for it

I rarely give reviews but here I think I need to speak out, this was hard to listen, the acting was a bit exaggerated and the voice hit at all appropriate for so many different characters. Every person sounded the same, even the children. it's hard to understand why such a good book with such high profile didn't get enough budget to get a redo with a more suitable narrator.

Sooo Good!

This book was the best. The Best!!
I never saw the TV show and now I don’t want to, because there is no need. This story was everything. And the narrator made everything funny. I’ve never laughed and cried in the same audio book before. The moms were ridiculous and hilarious but so real. And the narrator even made the kids entertaining. A ROBUST who-done-it. So much more to this book than solving the crime!

Enticing and thought provoking

well read. The intricacies in the weave of the story were fascinating and the message is important. A lovely story about support, family, a friendship that ends with a murder investigation.
