About this listen

Livy Kowalski has no time for idiots. When you shapeshift into a honey badger, getting through life's irritants is a finely honed skill. Until she gets stuck housing her nutso cousin and dealing with her dad's untimely and unexplained demise.

That's where Vic Barinov comes in-or his house does. Vic can't step outside without coming back to find Livy devouring his honey stash and getting the TV remote sticky. It gets his animal instincts all riled up. But he'll have to woo her at high speed: All hell is breaking loose, and Livy is leading the charge…

Not bad

I liked that they included the characters from the previous books. My only problem is that the author made Blaine out to be a total wimp against Livy which was not the case in Blaine’s story. That part of the story left me irritated. And the author did it in Tony’s story too, when Tony keeps calling her bland and saying she doesn’t care when Blaine corrects her when Blaine did nothing to her.

Not the best in the series

The story is good but there is so much jumping around from character to character and it drags on. Feels like much of the story is “fill”.

Easy Shifter Rom Com

I listened to book 1-9 straight wanting to hear about the hunting plot... I think the last 2 story lines would have benefited from leaning into that plot line more to cleanly close the series, but sadly it began to get left on the wayside.

I liked how Blane continued to make an appearance in so many "episodes" and her need to be everyone's friend/claim the role of match maker helps her appearance make sense- however she was the least believable character - I lost track on how old she's supposed to be, but the innocent always perky space cadet persona, manipulative yet easy cryer, plus hyper/ADD sugar/caffeine crazed plumber/roller derby hybrid shifter was alot to swallow- not only as a listener, or the possibility of simply existing, but the shear number of characters who would tolerate or enjoy her in their space. I am surprised more people did not hit her.

On that thread- as many characters claim to have short fuses, there were some fights that seemed to have come up unexpected to support this claim, while others that were missed seemed unlikely. I have no idea how to rectify this... more fights that are simply background noise to everyday life? More clearly defined dominance roles?

Multiple characters in thw series are juggling 3 part time jobs, few of which are ever part time roles. I will go with the "amazing abilities" allowing physical skills to be inherent, however the frustration and anger of "Bo" trying to maintain a schedule for his single job, while multiple other characters float to their 3 jobs and have time for a marathon f*$k session at night, plus late start after the follow morning session as a crucial element in this fantasy series.

I think the author's sex scenes mostly make sense and appreciate that not every session has to be annotated for the reader, it can instead be implied. There's a good balance of both to keep the story moving and keep it steamy.

Despite the challenges of writing believable shifter worlds and characters I still thoroughly enjoy them.
