Publisher's Summary

Her:

I wanted to have a pity party of one when I went for that beer. I never imagined I would meet a dark and dangerous man. That man took me on the wildest ride of my life. Literally and figuratively. He quickly became my entire world.

Him:

I didn't know I was looking for her. I saw her warming that bar stool and knew she would be mine. A man like me doesn't deserve the likes of her. But damned if I didn't take it.

Her:

When we met for the first time we didn't know that we already had a connection. A cruel game was being played, and we didn't know the rules. Sam would save us, but at what cost? Sam was one of my main reasons for living. If he wasn't in this world anymore, would I still want to be a part of it?

A Rollercoaster of Romance and Suspense: Boomtown Delivers Again!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
🔥🔥

This marks my third journey through the captivating pages of "Boomtown" by Lani Lynn Vale, and you might be wondering why I keep coming back for more. Well, let me spill the beans – I'm a stickler for reading series in order, and with a trusty table of contents, revisiting this gem was a no-brainer. Besides, who wouldn't want to relive the magic of this slow, cute, funny romantic suspense?

The story, fast-paced and compact, had me hooked from the very beginning. A major bonus was the option to switch things up and listen to it via Audible this time, adding a refreshing layer to the experience. In a literary world filled with dark tales, "Boomtown" stands out as a mellow and delightful respite, like a breath of fresh air.

The characters are the heart of this novel, and the chemistry between 'Her' and 'Him' is nothing short of explosive. I love the fact that our hero isn't overly possessive but strikes the perfect balance. He's the kind of character that stays with you long after you've turned the last page.

The synopsis aptly teases the wild ride the characters embark on, both literally and figuratively. What I appreciate about this story is its brevity – it doesn't waste time getting to the action, making it a quick and enthralling read.

The intricate connection between the characters, unbeknownst to them at first, adds an extra layer of suspense. As the cruel game unfolds, you're left wondering about the rules, and Sam becomes a key player in this intricate dance. The looming question of whether the protagonists can survive the challenges thrown their way kept me on the edge of my seat.

"Boomtown" is more than just a love story; it's a rollercoaster of emotions and suspense that keeps you guessing until the very end. Lani Lynn Vale has woven a tale that manages to be both heartwarming and thrilling, and with every re-read, I discover new nuances that make me fall in love with this book all over again. If you're in the mood for a romance that's light on the possessiveness but heavy on the feels, look no further than "Boomtown." It's a delightful escape from the darker realms of literature, and I can't recommend it enough!

Immature language gets in the way

The story was good, the characters likeable, but the immature wording used by the main character was really off putting and distracting. “I went to go potty” said by a 20something year old woman. It ruined it for me

pass

pick me girl vibes coming from the author. female lead tries too hard to act like one of the guys. couldn't get though it. annoying that female lead got angry about no condom use when she was part of the decision. just overall cringey.

Love the Freebirds

This story was a whole lot more that just alpha-male sexy time. Sam's organization, his teammates, and Cheyenne's family dynamics all add layers that make it so much more interesting. While I was annoyed by Cheyenne's immature attitude at times, the overall story line is a great introduction to the Freebirds. Can't wait for the rest of the books.

Super fast and jumpy

The plot speeds through Time a tad too quickly for my taste. It jumps ahead by weeks and months, which left my head spinning.

I felt the performances were ok, likely due to thin material to pull from. They just sounded very shallow. Both voice actors did have great voices and when there were opportunities they delivered better scenes. I think it’s just that this material is kindof like “skim milk” instead of cream.

Overall- I think this book would have benefited from cutting down on the number of characters and by simplifying the plot. There was a lot of hinting at side plots and background story that’s touched on but not fleshed out- so you’re left wondering what’s important. Narrowing it down would make for a stronger story.

From first to last these books are fantastic!!!

I absolutely loved these books, they are a Rollercoaster of emotions!! I've cried happy and sad tears and also laughed so hard I cried. I wish the last book was longer but that may just be me being a tad selfish because I didn't want the series to finish. I definitely recommend this series!!!! Kpd swat is good too!!
