About this listen

He’s no Prince Charming....

Callum Griffin is the heir to the Irish mafia. He’s ruthless, arrogant, and he wants to kill me.

We got off on the wrong foot when I set a (very small) fire in his house. Our families believe a marriage pact is the only thing that will prevent all-out warfare.

I think I might need to murder him while he sleeps. This would all be a lot easier if Callum wasn’t so damned good-looking.

But I’ve got a lockbox around my heart. Because, even if I’m forced to marry him, I could never love a brutal prince.

Brutal Prince is the explosive first act in the epic Brutal Birthright series. It’s a stand-alone dark Mafia romance, complete with HEA and no cliff-hangers. It contains blazing-hot bedroom scenes for mature listeners only!

There is better out there

I've been really into the mafia romance genre lately. I will say that I do enjoy the aspect of including the Irish, the Italians and the Ukrainians, however the character development is a bit lackluster. It's hard for me to grip the novel when the FMC and MMC go from absolute enemies to quickly becoming infatuated and in love. I feel like this needed a bit more developing and build up. Overall I did enjoy this book and will continue with the series but I do prefer the mafia romance books by Danielle Lori a little bit more.

Read it

My only complaint is that I wish it was longer. I’ll be reading the whole series.

Great story

The narrators kept me engaged. The expressions, pitch and tones held me spellbound and had me grinning from ear to ear.

It was ok

I suppose this was fine for a mafia romance. I can’t understand the draw to these types of books in the first place. The MMC’s are always macho a-holes. And the women are always property to be dealt, bought or sold. At least this FMC had some backbone and was pretty funny. But I think I’m done with this type or romance. They’re just lame.

Loved it!

This was my first true mafia romance, as well as my first book by Sophie Lark, and it was great! A funny and fast paced, enemies to lovers romance. The arranged marriage between Aida & Callum starts out hate filled and spiteful, but eventually we get to a fiery passion and an HEA. Can’t wait to continue the series.

DNF, male lead is a jerk, Aida’s clueless

I’m returning this one. Actually the first half of the book was pretty good, it was after the wedding that things fell apart. I should have known better, it’s right in the title, but Callum is brutal. As in, controlling, I-am-caveman, alphahole brutal. It was impossible to like him as soon as I got a glimpse of his internal monologue, it was all about controlling her. Even the obvious stuff was terrible, like forcing her to wear clothes she doesn’t like because he likes it? Ugh, that’s not hot it’s a warning signal to run away fast.

Aida wasn’t much better. I liked her up until the stalker ex boyfriend thing. She did not take it seriously at all, even though his behaviour was seriously alarming. The guy can’t take a hint but no wonder - every time he tries to get together with Aida instead of telling him no and leaving, she stays and talks to him, then makes excuses and also, doesn’t tell her significant other about it?

I held on for a bit hoping there’d be some character growth but still 2 hours to go and it’s just getting worse. See ya ✌🏻
