About this listen
Sold into slavery by her father and forsaken by the man she was supposed to marry, young Egyptian Kiya must serve a mistress who takes pleasure in her humiliation. When terrifying plagues strike Egypt, Kiya is in the middle of it all.
Choosing to flee with the Hebrews, Kiya finds herself reliant on a strange God and drawn to a man who despises her people. With everything she's ever known swept away, and now facing the trials of the desert, will she turn back toward Egypt or surrender her life and her future to Yahweh?

Gripping and insightful
I liked how this story emulated real relationship struggles that happen no matter the time and place, but show how God is working His will through the most difficult of circumstances. The story extends hope to all because it shows God as loving and merciful, but also righteous. Great historical fiction provides the setting for this complex romance! Loved it!

Narrator’s voice is stilted
I am currently listening at a faster speed. I find it difficult to listen to the cadence of the narrators voice as Kiya is so awkward. Her voice as other characters is normal so it makes me wonder why she speaks in odd syllable breaks for the main character.

Good story, horrible narration
I would have enjoyed this book had it not sounded like it was narrated by a computer generated voice.
