Story
Sam Johnstone was hoping for renewal when he took a job at a boutique law firm in rustic Wyoming. The mountains and streams of the West would be a refreshing, quiet place to start over after years of war and turmoil in his personal life. But after a local woman is brutally murdered, Sam realizes that things aren’t so quiet in this rural American town. The accused is one Tommy Olsen, a known delinquent who had been sleeping with the victim. Sam is repulsed by the crime and wants nothing to do with the case but meets with Tommy to make sure he has legal representation.

Looking forward to more from this author
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were well developed the story flowed. The narrator had a wonderful voice but seemed to have a bit of trouble with different voices. It did not take away from the enjoyment of the audiobook just a bit of constructive support.
I recommend this book and look forward to many more from this author

What’s Wrong? Everything
Well maybe not everything but a lot. First, the characters were poorly developed. For the most part, all were as colourless and shapeless as raw clay. I wish I’d cared for what happened to lawyer, client or anyone else for that matter, but it just wasn’t there.
The plot too, lacked the “punch” I would have expected. The story neither veered left nor right but ploughed ahead to its inevitable conclusion.
The narration, though, was good but would have been better with higher quality material. Moreover, there were grammatical errors in the narration as opposed to the dialog (what has happened to copy editors?).
