Publisher's Summary
Firedrake, a young dragon, receives a frightening warning one night: Humans are planning to destroy the valley in which he lives! All the dragons must flee. Their only refuge is a place above the clouds called the Rim of Heaven - which may not even exist.
Firedrake boldly volunteers to go ahead first. As he embarks on his journey, he meets Ben, a runaway boy. Together, the boy and dragon make their way toward the Rim of Heaven, all the while running a step ahead of Nettlebrand, a monster who will stop at nothing to hunt down Firedrake. Their quest will truly become an adventure like no other.

A delightful book, amazing narrator!
This is a children's book but as an adult I enjoyed it very much. It was full of adventure and delightful characters. An excellent listen! Brendan Frazer goes above and beyond in narrating the story.

LOVE IT!!!
We LOVE this story! My 5-yr old listens to Dragon Rider over and over. We love it as parents because Brendan Fraser is AMAZING at all the characters, and we can listen for hours without getting sick of it. It's our favourite audiobook, and we talk about dragons a lot! I love that my girls love this story- it's a great adventure with a motley crew of characters (and strong and fearless females!) and the language is not dumbed down for young listeners. It's awesome!!

Brendan Fraser is a gem.
The book was good, it's really more of a kids book though. Even still, Cornelia Funke's imagination won't disappoint you, and you'll be invited into another fabulously vibrant, fantasy world she's written. But, the highlight of this audiobook is Brendan Fraser's narrative, he made this book come to life. Fraser does all the voices of the different characters and transitions between their various accents and vocal tones so flawlessly that he makes you forget it's just one man doing all the voices.

Fraser makes this book!
I loved this book when I read it many years ago and have always enjoyed the audio version of it. Funke is a great writer and this book is beautifully translated from the original German. Brendan Fraser’s reading is spot on perfect.

Great story
This is a great family or YA fantasy book. I've enjoyed it in hardcover and the audiobook is great too. The narrator isn't the best I've heard, the the different characters voices weren't always the best but the story is wonderful and has something for all ages. #audible1
