About this listen
A Warhammer 40,000 Audiobook
Since the T’au Empire annexed the world of Cao Quo, its benighted human population has caused setback after setback for their new rulers, resisting the light of the Greater Good. Now, an armed rebellion has taken root, led by the ruthless but brilliant Artamax – a Space Marine of the Raptors Chapter.
LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE
Explore the inner workings, politics, and challenges facing members of the T'au as they face a full-scale planetary insurrection from within their own empire. Can a selection of experts from across the castes come together to defeat this insurgency?
THE STORY
In a moment of crisis for the T'au Empire, the enigmatic ethereal Yor’i assembles an elite Elemental Council – a veteran Fireblade, a water caste spy, a peerless air caste pilot, and a maverick earth caste engineer – in the hope of curtailing the growing insurgency on the planet Cao Quo.
But as a full-scale planetary insurrection looms, enemies more cunning than Yor’i’s council could have imagined begin to surface from both sides, and Cao Quo soon finds itself teetering on the brink of being plunged back into a dark age of ignorance, and all-out war.

Dante is Chapter Master of one of the noblest but most troubled Chapters of Space Marines in the Imperium: the Blood Angels. From the time of his birth in the rad-scarred wastes of Baal Secundus, he was destined for glory and strife. From his apotheosis to Scout, to the hive cities of Armageddon and the alien menace of the Cryptus system, Dante has waged war against all the enemies of the Imperium. He has witnessed the divine, and struggled against the darkness within all sons of Sanguinius.

Outstanding
If you care about Tau lore and about the Greater Good, then this is the book you must read. Nothing is better in Tau literature. I just hope this Nguyen guy will stick with the Tau rather than going out to different factions.

Top tier
This may be my favourite 40k book right up there with Infinite and the Divine. Nguyen really leans into exploring the different castes in a way that up to now has felt like a cool thing on the periphery instead of a central focus. Everyone feels very much of their caste without their caste being their defining character trait. If you're interested in Tau this is essential reading and if you're interested in 40k more generally I would still give it a go. I would only suggest that non-Tau readers brush up on the naming conventions of caste and rank before diving in as both are important to understanding the standing between characters.
As for Emma Gregory, she knocks it out of the park. It was honestly easy to forget that I was only listening to one person.
