Story
After seven long years of conflict, the Horus Heresy nears its end. But now, as the Warmaster Horus marches on Terra to rip his father from the Throne, the seat of the arch-traitor’s power lies empty. Cthonia, a world once dominated by brutal murder-gangs, is occupied by the Emperor’s praetorians—the indomitable Imperial Fists. For the Sons of Horus, this outrage demands a reckoning.

Story
Supreme Grand Master Azrael summons Lazarus and his Fifth Company to honour an old debt on the Knight world of Reis – a planet upon which the warp has set its hungry gaze. But Lazarus is not so sure Reis wants to be saved – its Knights are long lost, its governance is dogged by political strife, and internecine conflict hampers the world’s defence against an ancient evil. An evil which, like Lazarus himself, refuses to die.

Story
After seven years of bitter war, the end has come at last for the conflict known infamously as the Horus Heresy. Terra now lies within the Warmaster’s sights, the Throneworld and the seat of his father’s rule. Horus’ desire is nothing less than the death of the Emperor of Mankind and the utter subjugation of the Imperium. He has become the ascendant vessel of Chaos and amassed a terrible army with which to enact his will and vengeance. But the way to the Throne will be hard as the primarch Rogal Dorn, the Praetorian and protector of Terra, marshals the defences.

Story
Fell times have come to the galaxy. Cadia has fallen, destroyed by the onslaught of Chaos. A Great Rift in the warp has opened, and from its depths spew daemons and the horrors of Old Night. But all hope is not lost… A hero, long absent, has returned, and with him comes the wrath of the Ultramarines reborn. Roboute Guilliman has arisen to lead the Imperium out of darkness on a crusade the likes of which has not been seen since the fabled days of the Emperor. But never before have the forces of Ruin amassed in such numbers, and nowhere is safe from despoliation.

Publisher's Summary
With news of Horus' treachery spreading across the galaxy, the Great Crusade grinds to a halt as the primarchs and their Legions decide where their loyalty lies - with the Emperor or with the rebel Warmaster.
The Dark Angels, too, face a time of testing, both among the stars and on their home world, Caliban. Luther, once Lion El'Jonson's trusted second-in-command, now languishes as an exile in all but name while his master struggles to thwart the traitors' advance upon the forge world Diamat. But an ancient evil gathers its strength beneath the surface of Caliban, and the First Legion will soon be thrust into a deadly conflict where all that they know will be cast into doubt.

it's a really good continuation
I have to say this book does really well to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the primarch Johnson. I also appreciate the buildup and eventual fall of Luther into rebellion

Again, Astartes don't sound like kids.
It was good to see more of Johnson in this novel, he's more interesting than the two rugrats.
I hope I don't have to encounter this narrator again.
I don't hate his general performance just his decision making process about Zahariel/Nemiel sp?

Good. Worth listening to
The story is well written, fun and engaging, and although not the best of the HH books I’ve gotten into it’s still really good. I found the narrator good overall, but he made the space marines sound too gentle and mild at times. Regardless, it was definitely was worth the purchase and I recommend it.

dark angels and dark secrets
the story is well written and dives into how and why half the dark angels went traitor and why it makes sense from a the traitors pre-heresy views to do so

Yet another stunning entry in the Horus heresy Saga. Gareth Armstrong's narration is by far the best.

Great Horus Heresy book by Mike Lee
I recommend reading Descent of Angels as well as maybe some other books in the Horus Heresy, but that is not required! Great book: great character focus, beyond realistic detail, and great plot.
