Worth every penny
Juanita's narration was spot on. She emulated all characters, male and female, perfectly. The story is a tale of love, deceit and heartache. It's not a love story though. Mearly a brilliantly told story of gripping characters that you will root for and despise. Definetly recommend.

Long fingers
This was a well drawn out story that was entirely way too long . It ended well but parts were predictable and I found myself skipping chapters

Amazing story with incredible narration
I loved listening to this book. The narrator was consistent and impressive with her ability to switch between character’s voices.
There were many unexpected twists and turns that I couldn’t have predicted. I’m sad it’s over but I’m grateful it was such a long listen! I highly recommend this book!

Just get this book, you won't regret it I promise.
I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. The reader was very pleasant to listen to and the story had me captivated. If you are an impatient reader/listener like I am you may find it a little slow to start but trust me you will be swept off your feet very quickly.
I also want to acknowledge that the LGBTQ+ storyline is heart wrenching and beautiful. I have not read a lot of queer romance stories (not that there should be a difference) but if anyone else is new to the genre I promise this one is a gorgeous introduction. Maude and Sue's relationship had me at the edge of my seat.
I love this book and would recommend it to all fiction lovers!
Happy listening!!

Great rendition
What a perfect reading of what has been one of my longtime favourite books. This felt like coming home. The narrator was perfect and this story never ceases to pull me in with its twists and turns. Such an utter and complete joy.

A little let down
This story started strong and had me quickly built up to a great finish then it whimpered to a sputtering end

Love Sarah Waters
This book was beautifully written and narrated. I just love Sarah’s attention to detail (also listen to Tipping the Velvet if you liked this one). I was wishing the passion between Maude and Sue to take up a bit more of the book though. The portrayal of mental health in the 1800’s was so raw and heartbreaking.

Predictable love story ending
Starts strong! V Interesting, with twists and nice flow, yet disappointing in the end as it came slow and predictable.
Narration is good, except the voices of the elderly all sounded the same - high and screechy. Luckily not the main characters ;)
