Publisher's Summary

The fourth original novel from the much-loved space Western Firefly, produced with Joss Whedon as consulting editor, set between the TV series and the movie Serenity.

A mysterious star map

On an Outer Rim moon, Captain Malcolm Reynolds ends a card game the lucky winner of an old map covered in mysterious symbols. The former owner insists it’s worthless; back on Serenity, River Tam is able to interpret it.

An ancient legend

River claims the map points the way to one of the Arks: legendary generation ships that brought humans from Earth-That-Was to the ’Verse. The salvage potential alone is staggering.

A drifting relic

As the crew approach the aged floating ship, they find it isn’t quite as dead as it first seemed. The closer they get, the more agitated River becomes. She claims something is waiting on board, something powerful, and very angry....

Great story, outstanding narration

I greatly enjoyed this story as it explores some key aspects of the backstory of the Serenity crew, while putting them into mortal danger.

I'm always cautious about books that build on TV / movie media. I often have difficulty having the novelized characters meet my expectations set in the visual experience.

This installment of Firefly does not have that problem :) If you are a fan, you will love this book.

The story is masterfully written, mixing enough characterization with action that the full Firefly experience is there for the audiobook.

Foster is the perfect narrator for Firefly books. Initially I had to double-take as I imagined I was hearing Nathan Fillion. What a fine job this award-winning narrator does, and it is a credit to him that he brings his full talent to the performance of a series installment of this type where others may see themselves as "too big" for the job.

Easily worth a credit, it was still in the Plus Catalogue at time of writing.

A good entry.

Some of these fan fictions are better then the others. This one was one of the better ones,,,, not the best,, but good enough, for a decent Sci Fi fix.

Finally. Unexpected but welcome

This review encompasses the whole series.
I was a fan of the show and was a bit sceptical that these books could compare.
I give a ton of credit to the narrator “James foster” for getting all the voices and mannerisms for all the characters dead on.
He really brings the story to life.
Great series of books.

It was like listening to another episode

I loved this show and this book did not disappoint! So much fun and true to the characters we know and love. Narrator did an excellent job.

Short. Leaves much to be desired.

Very interesting items are hyped (I don't want to spoil) and then they just sort of happen and are over quick. I realize they are trying to write between the show and the movie, but more could've happened. I've also noticed the writers in this book series have the bad habit of repeating established information over and over like filler. This story was extremely short and disappointed me somewhat.
