About this listen
Fourteen years have passed since the virus ripped through the global population, crushing the modern world and leaving the cities crawling with the infected.
The immune who survived the violence of the collapse fled to remote havens like Balmorhea, a tiny town in the desert of Far West Texas. There, a few hundred Normals made a go of it, building walls, farming the dry dirt, and learning to thrive together.
With them, Zed and Murphy, survivors of the infection are different but still human. Distrusted and despised because of what they are, they're still the first to fight when the hordes maraud out of the wastes.
Now, a new menace is lurking beyond the horizon, threatening to destroy everything they've built. Will they survive the savage violence sweeping across the desert, or will they be consumed by the firestorm?

Absolutely epic ending to an epic apocalypse storyline
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a good solid read, great narration and a fresh new look at the apocalypse genre… the ‘science’ was solid, the characters compelling and there were just enough new revelations and twists as the series progressed to keep the listener engrossed without resorting to any of other authors usual (predictable & trite) tricks to spin out an extra book.
Wish it wasn’t over but it ended perfectly

Don't miss Z and Murphy!
At first I was concerned that Z, even after 14 years, was still an insufferable man-child, but I'm glad I stuck with it. The great thing about this iteration of an infected world is the broad scope of what could happen next. *SPOILERS* Why did you have to do Dalhover dirty!?

Not too shabby
Books 1-9 pretty much complete the story whereas this book adds in some new elements and provides some closure, but as before with the MC, don’t expect all sunshine and rainbows.

Rollicking action from cover to cover, great story!
This book isn’t one of those that’ll be on anyone’s list of all time greats or anything, but the story is entertaining as hell, and Bobby Adair’s writing is a bit of a breath of fresh air, to be honest. Not a great deal of fat to it, the novel gets right down to business, and keeps delivering till the end. An amazing economy of words that reminds me in some ways of Jack Ketchum. Lovers of horror, zombies, sci-fi and post apocalypse will love this as much as I did! Phil Thron is also excellent. Highly recommended!

Another strike
The whole series is epic, this one i wasn't sure because it took time to come out and sometimes writers just don't get new exiting idea (ex: jim butcher) but i wasn't disappointed, i found it a bit hard to get into at first because not much was happening but by the end.... wow... let's just say that walking dead got nothing on slow burn.

Clown burn bright.
Where to start? This series is the best. No if, ands or buts. I couldn’t have imagined half of what’s in this series. I really appreciated the analogy of the paint can.
