Excellent from beginning to end!
I understand that this series came about because of a dare! The author had said "that a good writer can take any concept and make it great!" ... So someone challenged him to write about Pokémon and the Roman legion! I'd say he proved his point and I got one of my favourite series ever. I also can't say enough about Kate Reading and her narration ... she has so many distinct voices and cadences .. love her work.

Alera still stands!
I was going to give this a lesser rating, because the series was over, but decided against it.
I am truly impressed at Jim Butcher's storytelling abilities. He's given us a protagonist who is not perfect, an antagonist who is not evil, but must nevertheless must be destroyed, a villain who remains evil, another villain, redeemed, romantic subplots handled without being stupid, enemies who remain enemies while gradually becoming allies, and bad things happening to good people.
And he does this within a completely believable setting that combines equal parts history, fantasy, and science fiction.

Brilliant ending
Super finale to a remarkable story. Loved the endings for all of the characters I came to care about. Also resonated to the way the 4 groups of humanity came together to meet the alien woord. My favorite fantasy series now, replacing Robin Hobbs 9 Fitz books.

9/10
Almost perfect. I wish the epilogue was a bit longer, and book 6 of 6 is not the place to start introducing relationship drama.

Jim's Best Work
Kate Reading is a master of voice and tone. She has guided me on this fantasy ride and brought the diversity of characters to individual life. Jim's story was engaging from beginning to end even with the predictable causes and effects. He once again delivered an underdog adventure with heroic twists.

Good end
Really good ending to the series. Finishes up the arcs well and leaves an open story so that Jim could start up again later if he wanted to. Seeing how much Tavi has grown is really good. Only bad thing I think is the Vord Queen's character growth, it feels a little stunted, like it only made it 75% of the way to a satisfying arc.
TL;DR, good end to the series.
