Publisher's Summary

Franco the Ferret was born in a lush, green forest, filled with life and buzzing with activity. He had a mom, a dad, and two older sisters who loved him from the moment he opened his eyes.

He grew up surrounded by friends and family who made him laugh, who taught him how to do things, and who were always there for him when he got into trouble. Franco was quite the playful ferret. Some might even say he was naughty, pulling pranks on the girls in the meadow or hiding Mr. Toad’s favorite flute.

Even with all his silly antics, Franco was loved by all around him, for he was friendly and truly kind when it mattered. He would help Old Lady Smithers cross the stream, and protect the younger field mice from those nasty minks that hung around the old tree stump. He helped his mother do the laundry when her back ached, and always complimented Mrs. Fisher’s extravagant hats, even when they were odd and stuck out at strange angles.

Because of his kindness and playfulness, Franco gained a lot of friends. Franco was also a good student. He went to school on time every day and did his homework as soon as he got home. He loved to learn, but more importantly, he loved to play sports.

Franco the Ferret was very good at soccer. He loved kicking the ball around and competing against the other children. He dreamed of becoming a soccer star when he was older. With his skills, his teachers and coaches had no doubt that he would one day become famous.

Franco had no idea how far far far he would stray from this life. He had no idea that his choices would lead him far far far from everything he loved. He had no idea how far, far, far he could fall.
