Publisher's Summary

From NYT and USA Today bestselling author A.L. Jackson comes a single-dad, enemies-to-lovers stand-alone romance about a jaded club owner and his son’s teacher....

Eden Murphy came into my club looking to make some extra cash.

A girl like her didn't belong in a place like this.

She'd get ripped to shreds.

Most likely by me.

There's nothing but sweetness dripping from her sexy little body, and I'm the monster who's salivating to get a taste.

Trent Lawson is the last man I should want.

Dark.

Dangerous.

So wickedly gorgeous he makes my knees weak.

He's also an arrogant jerk who happens to be my new boss.

When I discover his adorable son is also in my kindergarten class, I know I have to keep my distance.

But neither of us can ignore the attraction that flames.

One glance, and our hearts race.

One touch, and we’re aching for what we can’t have.

One night, and we’re falling fast.

Dragging her into my sordid world is wrong.

It doesn’t matter.

Eden Murphy is mine.

opposites attract

WOW! This was my first book by A L Jackson and her words are like poetry. The way she was able to paint an image of Trent and Eden's feelings and struggles was beautiful.

Connor and Desiree did a fantastic job of narrating.

I can't wait to listen to Jud and Logan's stories.

Really good

This book is great and filled with angst. My only complaint is the number of times the author uses the phrase "dip my fingers". It was driving me nuts, like over a dozen times in the MMC's internal dialogue.

Redemption hills 🤍

I love an intense, grumpy, single dad who carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. Insert Trent Lawson the tattooed club owner and former Vice President of a Motorcycle Gang. Eden Murphy is a sweet and resilient kindergarten teacher who’s a little broken but will do whatever she can for the ones she loves. Which leads her into Trent’s club Absolution looking for a job to make extra money.
Trent is a ghost, a killer, a monster and Eden is an innocent, pure, and sweet. They were the perfect blend of good and bad. Their story was beautiful and heartbreaking as they each tried to navigate the grief and loss of ones they loved and the secrets in their pasts.
This story touched on not only love, hope and trust, but pain, grief, learning to let go, and overcoming obstacles from both past and present.
My biggest issue with this book, especially because I was listening to the audiobook, was how often Eden called her dad “daddy”. For a grown adult woman, it just felt very uncomfortable to be calling her actual dad daddy. It felt very childish to me to have her calling him daddy all the time instead of just dad. I think if I’d been reading the physical book, I could have skipped over it but on audio it just seemed like she spent a lot of time talking about her “daddy”. Normally, when a woman is calling someone “daddy” it certainly isn’t her dad 😏

Too many words

I do like the stores AL Jackson tells, I love the characters, but I find it impossible to listed to, (it has nothing to do with the Narrators they were great). AL Jackson will use four sentence to describe something when one will do, it just feels like a word salad. If the writing was tighter I have no doubt I would Love everything she writes.

Overall Good Story

I loved the story as it had plot twists I didn't see coming, but the book itself had too many words. So many descripting words, metaphors and similes. All the extra unnecessary words made it very difficult to keep focused on the actual story of the characters. It felt like overkill.

Did not finish - so many unnecessary meaningless words

I could not get into the audiobook. So many pointless meaningless sentences. They literally mean nothing. Any kind of feelings, steaminess or plot in this book was lost because of the writing, everything moves soooo slow. I even sped up the book. Narrators are great, but writing was awful. I have liked other book by this author, so don’t understand with this book was different.
