Publisher's Summary
The new question: Ten years after the worldwide best seller Good to Great, Jim Collins returns to ask: Why do some companies thrive in uncertainty, even chaos, and others do not? In Great by Choice, Collins and his colleague, Morten T. Hansen, enumerate the principles for building a truly great enterprise in unpredictable, tumultuous, and fast-moving times.
The new study: Great by Choice distinguishes itself from Collins’s prior work by its focus on the type of unstable environments faced by leaders today.
The new findings:
- The best leaders were more disciplined, more empirical, and more paranoid.
- Following the belief that leading in a “fast world” always requires “fast decisions” and “fast action” is a good way to get killed.
- The great companies changed less in reaction to a radically changing world than the comparison companies.
This book is classic Collins: contrarian, data-driven, and uplifting. He and Hansen show convincingly that, even in a chaotic and uncertain world, greatness happens by choice, not by chance.

Decline can be avoided. Decline can be detected. Decline can be reversed. Amidst the desolate landscape of fallen great companies, Jim Collins began to wonder: How do the mighty fall? Story
For decades, Peter F. Drucker was widely regarded as "the dean of this country's business and management philosophers" ( Wall Street Journal). In this concise and brilliant work, he looks to the most influential position in management - the executive. The measure of the executive, Drucker reminds us, is the ability to "get the right things done". This usually involves doing what other people have overlooked as well as avoiding what is unproductive.

Life changing.
This is one of the most impactful books or bits of content I’ve ever read. It could simply be called a guide to life because the applications are so wide ranging. And the ending had me smiling big. Enjoy!

Few concepts, all padding, mostly BS
Nothing in this book tries to be predictive nor actionable. It’s a bunch of buzzwords typical of the worst selfhelp books. Moreover the padding and repetition is EXTREME. Stay away (and I would say avoid anything from these authors)

Not my favourite
This book just wasn't as enjoyable as Jim's other work. I couldn't identify with this content like I could with his other books.
