Publisher's Summary

The world teeters on the brink of destruction.

The people who should be saving the Earth ignore Jason Asano's warnings and choose to loot the house as it burns down around them. He lacks the strength to save the world himself, but resolves to do it anyway, impossible be damned.

The impossible, in this case, means seizing a power that no mortal should touch. It's a choice from which there is no turning back, and marks Jason's first step into a wider cosmos that he is not yet ready to face.

Holding the fate of two worlds in his hands, Jason must decide for himself what home truly means.

Great, but oddly short

The story is awesome and the performance is flawless. But the story feels short. It may be because there's alot of repetition of the same scenario and that there is more than one hour of "side stories" at the end. Don't get me wrong, the whole thing is welcome and very entertaining. Jason keep it's typical attitude that makes is charm.

This was a tough one

I love the series. This one was a tiny bit sluggish for me. Good book, just has you wanting it to end sooner.

Awful But The Epilogue Makes the Book

So I’ve been listening to this series religiously and I was very disappointed in the way the series had gone. This book started out very much the same. Far too little of the fun action that made the first books so delightful and far too much drivelling and whining about ethics and morality and saving the world and blah blah blah.
I had to rewind this book many times because I would clue out listening to boring dialogue, something colossal would happen in the span of 1 sentence, and the book would continue on in an unrelated span of dialogue and I’d be left think “woah how did we get here?!?!?”
The characters were overacted and completely forgettable, there was almost nothing of the family that made the last 2 books tolerable, and I found myself saying over and over “who cares just get on with it!”
The book is a 2 star that would have seen me leave the story…then the epilogue chapters happened. FINALLY!!!!
What a breath of fresh air. The last 7 epilogue chapters were such a contrast to the ‘time filler’ book chapters that it really showcases just what made this book great and what a disappointment the last 3 books have been IMO.
The epilogue saved it for me, I went from utter disappointment to eagerly awaiting the next book in the span of 7 glorious chapters and a perfect setup ending. Thank You!

Another excellent installment

Seriously another great book in the series and one of the better ones at that. A few twists I didn't love but that just means I was invested enough to care. Good job
