About this listen

He wants revenge, but he wants her more.

Once upon a time, there was a little boy.

His belly full of laughter, his life full of joy.

Until one day, something changed; stripped his innocence away.

The hole inside making space for the devil to come and play.

His dreams gone forever, he grew up way too fast.

An endless night of crocodiles, and watches made of glass.

He grew into a villain, the taste of vengeance on his tongue.

Craving to make his enemies pay for the misdeeds they had done.

Instead he found a darling girl, and refused to let her go.

For what better way to make the man pay, than to steal his little shadow.

Hooked is a full-length, complete standalone in the Never After series: a collection of dark romances where the villain gets the girl. It is not a literal retelling. It is a dark, contemporary romance (not a fantasy) featuring mature themes and content that may not be suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised.

Decent story for a retelling

Not a bad story for a retelling of Peter Pan. I would give it about 2 spice, there’s only about 3 chapters with some hefty spice and it does have a gang twist on it.

Overall the female narrator was better than the male, the male in my opinion doesn’t do “other character” voices well.

The most annoying narrating

Like others said better to read , chapters alternate between James and Wendy and when they are uttering each other’s lines it’s the most irritating sound , ruining any good you try to get out of the story

I fell for the bad guy

I ended up enjoying the book, the only thing I didn’t like was how weak Wendy was.

Excellent story, perfect amount of spice.

Great story, Hooks accent felt odd at first but after awhile it worked well. Perfect ending.

Alright

This book was alright, not one I would listen to again. I am glad I didn't have to purchase it.

Good but needs work

The storyline is decent but the narration (the accents, specifically) takes away from the excitement of the story, dulling it.

I’m Hooked!

This was a fun read and very entertaining. I loved the reimagined characters. I can’t say too much without revealing anything. Lots at steamy parts, too.

I didn’t know what to expect?

The narrator’s did a great job, the story was a fun twist using the characters from Peter Pan. At first I had a hard time trying not to envision the stereotype of a cartoon Hook. But once I got into the male narrators voice and the story and steam it was smooth sailing and straight on till morning .

Better than I expected!

Took me a while to get used to the character’s voices, especially FMC, but once I got past it I really enjoyed listening! I loved the authors take on a classic and wouldn’t have imagined it ending or unfolding the way it did.
