    Editorial Review

How to Win Friends and Influence People is a deceptively simple Audible book that has drastically changed the lives of countless thousands since 1936 through its advice on finding success in all aspects of life.

In this world-renowned title, writer Dale Carnegie invites you into a world where you can have the job and life you want by changing the way you act towards others. Its chapters are overflowing with actionable advice you can use for greater success, whether you’re at work, home, school, or in a social setting.

As a listener you will discover sections on handling people, winning people over to your way of thinking, making people like you, leadership, and ways to create a happier environment at home.

Andrew MacMillan lends his resonant voice to the narration. He speaks with a certain sobriety yet speeds up his pace and lightens his tone at fitting moments for an engaging listen that makes seven hours fly by.

While this formative title was released in 1936, its origins began much earlier. Carnegie had already spent decades teaching courses on how others could improve their public speaking and communications. In the early 30s, businessman Leon Shimkin attended the course and convinced Carnegie to turn the course notes into something more permanent.

    Things you probably need repeated

If you ever wondered why it makes sense to be a good and positive person, this book will leave you with no doubt. You should be good and positive not only because it's righteous, but also because it leaves people no option except to like you in return.

I was already on a bit of a forced-empathy tangent when I started listening -- I'm a touch aspy -- but this book has convinced me that it should be required reading prior to entering the workforce. So many lost years, and lost opportunities!

Plainly performed, and very easy to understand.

It's like life-improvement broccoli. It's not amazingly delicious, but it's good for you, and you know it, and you know you have to eat it, but you've left it until the end of the meal.

It's time. Eat your broccoli. Listen to this book.

Book absolutely lives up to the reputation.

Book absolutely lives up to its reputation. The narration was perfect for the style of content. If there is one book you get on audible, this should be it.

    Don’t Bother

The entire book can be summarized into one sentence: “You can trick people into liking you by sucking up to them.” The narrator sounds like he’s stuck in the 1920s. Read Chris Voss instead. Much more insightful and less simplistic.

Good, I would have liked more specifics though.

A compilation of stories about successful people and some of the techniques they used. I liked it but I’d like like it more if it went more specifically into sales and how to influence gate keepers, supply chain managers and perhaps engineers. I’ll keep searching for a book like that! :-)

    Fantastic book

I liked how I was able to apply every aspect of this book to my everyday life. I believe every individual should read this book to allow themselves to communicate and come off nicer.

I also like how well the speaker was at emphasizing everything in its appropriate context!

Great book, yet a little repetitive.

Wonderfully narrated, but could have been summed up more shortly. Still would recommend listening to it at least once. Definitely a must read at the end of the day.
