A TikTok sensation! Sparks fly when a competitive figure skater and hockey team captain are forced to share a rink.

Anastasia Allen has worked her entire life for a shot at Team USA. It looks like everything is going according to plan when she gets a full scholarship to the University of California, Maple Hills and lands a place on their competitive figure skating team.

Nothing will stand in her way, not even the captain of the hockey team, Nate Hawkins.

Nate’s focus as team captain is on keeping his team on the ice. Which is tricky when a facilities mishap means they are forced to share a rink with the figure skating team—including Anastasia, who clearly can’t stand him.

But when Anastasia’s skating partner faces an uncertain future, she may have to look to Nate to take her shot.

Sparks fly, but Anastasia isn’t worried…because she could never like a hockey player, right?

It’s was a really good first romantic read

I liked the beginning but towards the end Anastasia was more and more Loving and less feisty like the beginning which I dislike a little more but over all a great read

Cute story, overall decent romance

A bit of repetitive “eye roll” scenarios, but the romantic aspect was likeable and the smut was decent!

Read the first half

This book is good at first, good smut good banter. But it becomes very repetitive and like everyone else said it’s too long…and I listen to all my books at 1.5 speed

Great Narrators + Great Plot

I loved this book! It was written really well and the audible narrators did a great job. Depending on the chapter's POV (if it's Nate's POV or Stasi's POV) the narrator switches between a male and female narrator. Definitely wear headphones with this book because spicy scenes sneak up on you at times.

So good

I enjoyed every inch of part of this book and well reading the beginning of it I really hoped it would end like this. The only thing that I’m sad about is, there’s not a second one.

A fun, light read

Alright, as a bookworm who’s dating a hockey player, I had to read this one and see what the hype it all about. And… I liked it. I didn’t love it, but I enjoyed it.

Plot:
Anastasia is an aspiring Olympic pairs figure skater with an oh-so-strict schedule. Nathan is a school year away from joining the NHL. Both have a plan and are determined to see it through, but things start to get ugly when a chain of events leads to both teams having to share a rink. And when things seem like they couldn’t get any worse for Anastasia, her partner gets hurt, and she needs to train with Nate. But she doesn’t like hockey players. Or does she? *wink wink*

This was a fun and light read – a good break from epic fantasy and romantasy series. There was great spice, awesome characters, force proximity, a reverse sunshine vs. grumpy couple, and more. It definitely made me even more curious about the romance and sports romance genre. However, I feel like this book could have been a good 100 pages shorter. A lot of plot twists and repetitions were added to create unnecessary drama, and it felt like a lot was happening, and nothing at all at the same time. Anastasia giving Aaron chances over and over became very dull very quickly, but the author just couldn’t let it go. Urgh. Finally, I probably would have given this book and extra half-star if it wasn’t for the epilogue.

Characters:
Hannah Grace writes good men! Nate was swooooooooony and kind and selfless and oh-so hot. And Henry, HENRY! I can’t wait for this book. JJ was fun too. Gosh, I wanted to out with these guys the whole time. The female characters, however, felt a little flat. Anastasia was inconsistent and stereotyped, but her communication skills was *chef’s kiss*. And Aaron.. wow… how can one hate a snobby figure skater more than an evil villain in a fantasy series? What a sorry excuse for a human being he was.

Writing:
The writing was ok, but inferior to what I usually read. Perhaps it goes with the genre? It didn’t “annoy” me, but I certainly wasn’t impressed by the prose. However, I thought that some dialogues between Anastasia and Nate were very refreshing and that the way they communicated their feelings was deep and mature. Love it! Authors often go with the cheap “miscommunication” trope, but this book was the complete opposite and I LOVE IT.

Restored my love for contemporary romance!

I loved how emotionally advanced the story line was. People who were flawed, but working to communicate- who were openly paradoxical. I love how in the space of the other they instinctively knew they were safe to fall apart yet flustered when it happened. To have a lead female character who was driven and dedicated, cry and feel and struggle and speak with a councillor. It was everything I wish I had read in romance novels when I was a teen - to plant seeds that feeling your emotions is a good thing. That vulnerability is a strength. That masculine energy is meant to hold space for you to be in your feminine. 5 stars. Can’t wait for the book about Henry’s love …. Also want Lola’s story ….
