Publisher's Summary
Bookstore owner Kerry Emerson finally seems to be back in control of her life. Her failure of a marriage firmly in her rearview mirror and her recent business expansion a success, she is in charge of her own future. One that is looking better than ever.
The sight of the tall man, with the familiar salt-and-pepper goatee pushing open the door of her store, sets her hair on end. He doesn't exactly bring good memories.
FBI Special Agent in Charge Damian Gomez is just looking for a decent cup of coffee when he walks into the small store offering books and brew. The pretty, feisty woman behind the counter is an unexpected surprise. Not at all unpleasant, especially since her finger that used to hold a wedding ring is now bare.
Her wild hair, boho style, and silvery grey eyes suddenly hold a lot of promise.
But when his office is pulled into an international investigation into the trafficking of rare books and manuscripts, the straight-laced SAC realizes he has to keep his distance from the woman who might well be involved.
Easier said than done, since fate seems determined to throw them together.

The case itself was I interesting as was the investigation the narration was very good
It was a bit too steamy for my likes . It should be listed as a Love novel but that story overtook the mystery

Freya Barker rocks Romantic Suspense
Keeping 6 (Rock Point - Book 1)
Written by: Freya Barker
Narrated by: Christian Fox and Muffy Newtown
I listened to Freya Barker’s Keeping 6 (Rock Point Book 1) this past weekend. I am so going to start moving to audio books when it comes to those that are Romantic Suspense. I felt so connected to the characters which I was sure amped up the enjoyment level for me.
We meet Kerry Emerson at the very beginning of the story, she’s been kidnapped and held hostage. Just when it isn’t looking good the FBI and police find and rescue her. FBI agent Damian Gomez is part of that rescue team. First meeting between these two, victim, agent and victims crappy husband! It’s been two years since that happened, Kerry is now living in the same city when Damian is the head of the FBI team. From beginning to end this book (audio in this case) moves, takes turns one wouldn’t expect, and pretty much keeps your headphones attached to your ears because it is hard to pause this story for any reason.
With narrators like Christian Fox (omg his voice) and Muffy Newtown, who both brought their A game while narrating Keeping 6, I couldn’t have spent my Friday and Saturday any other way.
I’ve read several other Freya Barker books so I had a fair idea of how enjoyable this read would be, but I have to say, I plan on going back over to Audible and grabbing the rest of the Rock Point series. I’m now invested in all the characters in this series and want to spend more time with all of them.
You can’t go wrong with Freya Barker’s romantic suspense books.

Really bad female voice
Overall: the worst book I’ve listened to on audible. I only kept listening because I was travelling and stuck without any entertainment and I get stubborn to finish after investing any time.
Performance: The female reader ended her words with a weird twang - so for example, “Carrie” sounded more like “carry-ie.”
She also can’t do male voices or any variation of female voices. I will avoid all books with this actress.
This was actually the worst narration I’ve heard on audible.
The male reader wasn’t as bad and it was a relief when he read a chapter.
Story: so many issues.., for example, there were inconsistencies- the beginning scene that is the pre-story to their first meeting is described differently when described in present. In the first version, she is rescued at knifepoint, her kidnapper shot; in the second, she is whisked away before the kidnapper can return. Did I mishear?
Then, in an age when everyone should know no means no, Damien’s early advances are creepy and inappropriate. My next peeve was the age references- Carrie is referred to as being of “advanced age” when she’s in her 40s.
There is also some weird physical description also relating to her age, which I assume is meant to be body positive, but I feel actually achieved the exact opposite. For example, Carrie is described as having "veiny breasts" and silver stretch marks. While I guess that describes a real human, it's not super sexy and she is only in her 40s!
I do not recommend this book.

Kind of boring
This book was slow and a bit boring. The male narrator was great, didn't care for the female narrator. Not much mystery, not original in the slightest. Meh.

Was this written by a 12 yr old?
Must confess I did not finish this. The story is not bad , but te characters are 1950's clichés. The dialog was..
ridiculous. I rated the performance as a 1 because I can't help but wonder why any self respecting actor would read this?
