About this listen
The incredible finale of the addictive, high-octane Sandman Slim series filled with an explosive ending and intense kick-ass action from New York Times best-selling author Richard Kadrey.
It’s been three months since Stark stopped a death cult and a potential ghost apocalypse, and he’s at loose ends. His personal life is a mess. His professional life isn’t much better. And the world...well, the world is going to shit. LA is gripped by a viral epidemic that has everyone wearing masks and keeping their distance from each other. But what’s even more frightening is the Shoggot gang and their leader, King Bullet, who revels in the city’s collapse.
Who is King Bullet? No one knows. He seemingly came from nowhere with nothing but a taste for mayhem and an army of crazed killers who follow his every command. What king wants seems simple on it face: Chaos. Destruction. A city in flames. But there’s more to the king and his plans for LA, and what Stark discovers will change Heaven, Earth, and Stark himself forever.

Story
When he was 19, James Stark was considered to be one of the greatest natural magicians, a reputation that got him demon-snatched and sent downtown - to Hell - where he survived as a gladiator, a sideshow freak entertaining Satan's fallen angels. That was 11 years ago. Now, the hitman who goes only by Stark has escaped and is back in L.A. Armed with a fortune-telling coin, a black bone knife, and an infernal key, Stark is determined to destroy the magic circle.

Story
Adair Finch is the most powerful warlock in the world, and one of the best private investigators for hire. He has dealt with corporate vampires, murderous werewolves, and even fae royalty. Everything was perfect until he lost one case—the case where he also lost his brother. So Finch retired. From magic. From PI work. From everything. Bree Blackstone, a twelve-year-old witch, doesn’t know or care about any of that except Finch’s reputation. In the middle of the night, she bangs on Finch’s door. Her mother has been murdered, and now the assassin is after Bree as well.

Story
Meet Laszlo, eight-hundred-year-old demon and Hell’s least productive Curse Keeper. From his office beneath Midtown, he oversees the Drakeford Curse, which involves a pathetic family upstate and a mysterious black monolith. It’s a sexy enough assignment—colonial origins, mutating victims, et cetera—but Laszlo has no interest in maximizing the curse’s potential; he’d rather sunbathe in Ibiza, quaff martinis, and hustle the hustlers on Manhattan’s subway.

Story
My name is Cain Sthyldor, a former assassin for the fae. I've met Death in person, I'm cursed by Cthulhu, know a gorgon, and have a pet octopus named Fred. I may not be a wizard from Chicago, an iron druid on the run, a hot-tempered maker who hates Girl Scouts, or part of a destructive duo from New York City, but I guarantee you'll be entertained.

A Review or a Eulogy? God, I'm wordy.
If I wasn't smoking a pack of mal-addictions, I'd be crying right now at the end of this book. At the end of this series. This book brings everything full circle and ends right. It was clever to bring it to pandemic times and put a dystopian twist on it. I liked that.
It has a happy ending. I'm somewhat at a complete loss for words. Maybe I'll be praying to Sandman Slim from time to time. The patron Saint of Kicking A**. The patron Saint of the lost, and the destitute.
This is supposed to be the last book. While it's a fitting end, I don't want it to be the end. Hopefully there will be another one down the road. Artfully done, as always.
Also, in the spirit of Sandman Slim, a firm middle finger to anyone who ever hate read any book of the series.
Thank you Mr. Kadrey. This Series practically dragged me forward during times of my life I didn't see a way forward, or wanted one. Now thanks to you and your work getting me through, I've made it through to a point I can build from. No matter what, I'll always have this series to go back to. And maybe, if I'm lucky, Sandman Slim will come back when we all need him again, just like he always has.
Thanks Stark. Give Alice a hug for me. We'll all miss you so, so much.

fantastic finale.
Amazing ending to an awesome series. Stark is as badass as they come. Hope Kadrey considers a spinoff. Any one of the side characters could carry their own stories. Well done sir.

Farewell my old friend
Such a beautiful ending for the Sandman Slim series: full of actions, unbreakable friendship and a good dose of pure supernatural fun.
Thank you M. Kadrey for this great run and this superb ending.
