Enjoyable!

I liked the performer’s voice a lot and it was a good story. I got through it quickly!

Great story!

The story, as always, was great! I love the twists and turns throughout the story. The reader is good, however, it took me a while to get used to him. I really enjoyed the reader in the first book and thought it would be the same reader. Still amazing book though.

Second book with Alex Cross and really enjoyed it.

It's also my second James Patterson book and it's been fun getting to know his style of writing. Enjoyed the twists and turns in the story. Will be looking for another of his books to enjoy in the future.

great story...but....very graphic rape scenarios

It was a great story, but I had to fast forward some parts because they were very graphic rape scenarios. It was really uncomfortable to listen to at times.

Two Independent Serial Killers. TWO!!

I have read Crime Thrillers with two bad guys before - usually with one being the "real" killer while Law Enforcement chases the other one - but this plot structure from James Patterson is original. The villains are truly independent - one in North Carolina and one in California - in fact, they are aware of each other and compete to see who can be the more evil. Psychologist/Washington D.C. Detective Alex Cross gets involved with tracking the monsters down after a niece becomes one of the victims. Patterson delivers a nicely-paced Procedural and includes his typical elements of romance & character development deftly.

Michael Kramer's performance lets the novel down somewhat. His reading is professional (great timbre, cadence, and tone) and Hachette Audio do an impressive job with sound editing/splicing/volume control.. but Kramer far overenunciates, reads much too slowy (set playback speed at 1.15X with this one), and exhibits inferior southern accents (the voice-acting isn't great).

The unique aspects of the story make this well-written/well-executed novel worth reading. I give this audiobook iteration 8 stars out of 10 (points lost for a weak reading). Although a text copy (paper or eBook) might be a better choice for diehard Patterson fans, this audiobook version is worth a Credit fpr those looking for some solid entertainment during a long car ride or a quiet night-shift.

Narration by Maxwell Smart!

The narrator sounded ridiculous. It was as if Maxwell Smart was narrating. I won't be listening to the next book because he's narrating it again.

Would Alex and Kate end up together?

As usual Patterson keeps us in suspense until the very end of the book.
Will Alex and Kate end up together?
Happy that Alex ends our story with some time at home.
Have to read next book to find out who the murderer is now.

Diggs VS Kramer

In my personal opinion they couldnt have chosen a worse narrator. Throughout the story I kept saying "Alex Cross wouldn't sound like that." Why is this nerdy white guy (Mike Kramer) narrating a big black guy's role. I mean c'mon Cross' was played by Tyler friggin Perry in the movie. I found that incredibly disturbing as well as distracting.
