About this listen
In the follow up to Dead Until Dark, telepathic friend of the undead (and vampire bar cocktail waitress) Sookie Stackhouse puts her newfound powers to the test. After an unfortunate incident, Sookie finds herself beholden to a group of Louisiana vampires. So she agrees to travel to Dallas with her undead boyfriend Bill and track down a missing vamp, but only if the vampires promise to let local humans go unharmed. That seems easier said than done when an upstart religious cult threatens to destroy all things vampire - including Sookie, who is quickly scheduled for sacrifice.

Multiple thumbs up
Loved it! The accent takes a bit to get used to, but it makes for a better story. #Audible1

Sucked me right into the story
I absolutely love this series and the reader made it even better!! She has a great voice and accent, also did different voices in a way that you could always follow the story coherently. Overall it was an amazing series with an amazing performance.

Couldn't take my headphones off!
I have read the entire series as they released and decided to do the audio versions. Every spare moment I had my headset on ready to travel back to Louisiana. Johanna makes it feel like I am listening to the actual Sookie Stackhouse tell the tales of her trials and tribulations. For anyone who is new to the books they are very different and in my opinion better than the HBO series titled True Blood based off the novels. I highly recommend checking them out!

disappointing
I took a chance by downloading book two and immediately I regretted it. I liked Sookie even less in the second book than I did in the first and I wasn't a fan of the story.
In the first book, a fellow waitress is killed and everyone is looking for suspects and suspecting the vampires, but each murder is immediately a focal point of the book and gets investigated. In the second book, the story starts with the brutal murder of the gay, black, fry cook but unlike the first book where the murder is investigated with gusto, it's left and the focal point immediately switches to her going to Dallas. I don't know if the story comes back to the murder because I decided i'd had enough after 5 hours of listening.
The narrator was the only thing keeping me listening for that long.
