Publisher's Summary

A heartwarming story of friendship and demonic possession.

The year is 1988. High school sophomores Abby and Gretchen have been best friends since the fourth grade. But after an evening of skinny-dipping goes disastrously wrong, Gretchen begins to act...different. She's moody. She's irritable. And bizarre incidents keep happening whenever she's nearby.

Abby's investigation leads her to some startling discoveries - and by the time their story reaches its terrifying conclusion, the fate of Abby and Gretchen will be determined by a single question: Is their friendship powerful enough to beat the devil?

Like an unholy hybrid of Beaches and The Exorcist, My Best Friend's Exorcism blends teen angst, adolescent drama, unspeakable horrors, and a mix of '80s pop songs into a pulse-pounding supernatural thriller.

Just a fun 80's read

This was a impulse listen and well it really hit it out the park. Just a fun best friends 80s story with a demon.

Revisit the 80s Lifestyle with a Subtext of Spooky

I found this book really easy to listen to, and was pleased the language was not dumbed down to the intellectual level of a teenager. It was fun to revisit the 1980s lifestyle and the storyline was well organized. I was genuinely frustrated with the indifference of some of the adults lack of insight which was conveyed well in the story. Also there are a few gross out scenes for horror fans, once you read, you will understand. ;) One thing is for sure, only the luckiest person in the world has a best friend like this...

want a different type of read?

then try this one. Author has taken a life story's worth of current events and detailed them out explicitly. it gets your thoughts moving and the emotions

Great audio book boring story

While the narrator did a great job, sadly she couldn’t make a boring book much better. This book is very much a slow burn, which normally I still enjoy but in this case I almost DNF’d 3 times. I only kept going because I was hoping the exorcism would be worth it… it once again was kinda boring, going on at some points with no real substance. I did enjoy the very beginning with our characters as small children, but once they were teens it was almost like they became insufferable. And the 80’s setting just seemed like an excuse for the author to say some offensive shit and get away with it. The time period didn’t really influence the story much at all, only some character descriptions and a lack of cell phones with a sprinkle of satanic panic. Idk maybe this should have been a YA book so it could find a better target audience I’m just overall quite disappointed

Perfectly Haunting

I liked this one, actually surprised by how much I enjoyed this one!

Abby and Gretchen's friendship was goals, lasting the ultimate tests and there until the very end. The late 80's setting was fun, from the music to the trends and evrything in between.

A spooky book about high-school troubles, friendships, the weird kids in class, family dynamics, demonic spirits and oh ya, exorcism!

Astounding

This book captured every single emotion I have ever felt. It picked me up and carried me along each chapter. I was completely captivated and enthralled. This is definitely a reread and a paperback purchase. If you loose thrilling stories and and undying love, this is a definite read
