About this listen

A love so forbidden, it would shake the heavens.

My father called them messengers. He once told me they walked among us and that somewhere in this dark and godless city, there shined a faint sliver of hope. I had only to look for the signs.

Well, I’ve spent my whole life investigating the inexplicable and all I've found are the unsettling vestiges of iniquity—the evidence of another world shrouded by the obscure. Purgatory to some, where depravity hides in shadows, and girls like me are little more than delicious bites of temptation. Others call it Nightshade.

This peculiar place is where I first met the cold and callous recluse living in a decaying cliffside cathedral. Jericho Van Croix is the epitome of everything I’ve been told to fear: a raven-winged harbinger who wears intrigue like a warm black cloak, an enigma that I’m determined to unravel—even if it means getting closer than I should.

One touch is forbidden. Even so much as a kiss would be my demise. But the sin on his lips burns me up like a wild flame and his growing infatuation weakens my resolve.

Giving him what he wants, though, will mean no chance for redemption or escape. What's worse is the signs I’ve followed yet failed to see all these years begin to unmask a terrifying reality: Falling may be my only saving grace.

I’m not done with this book yet but I already love it the narrators are so good

Sometimes the people narrating these books ruin the fantasy for me but the performance in this audio book were really well done. They bring the stories back to life.

This is my 3rd Keri lake book and she hasn’t disappointed yet!!

Meh..

I don't love Ryan West as a male narrator. his characters all feel really old.
slow burn to start, the story drags, then everything gets thrown at you last minute style.
The spice is meh...

One of my forever favourite gothic romances!! Elevated in audio!!

I had already read and loved Nightshade before listening to the audiobook. Rereading this way brought it to life in a whole new way. I adore this story, and these voice actors do an amazing job!!

Great listen! 4 stars - Not Duet Narration

Sometimes when a being was as old as death life was nothing more than pure monotony. It was precisely why he cloaked himself within the underground and toyed with beings, mortals or otherwise, as he did. The pretense of being their answer to a problem; the cleaner to a mess often gave him such entertainment. It didn't matter what the reason was or how powerful the men behind it they are skuttled like rats.

Now as he stood in the gym that little phone of his kept ringing. Fucking idiots thought he was on their time. Nah. Not even close. A towel wrapped around his hips low, grabbed the phone, "This better be good, I'm busy." He grunted, low and gravelly.

Rushed words. Tossed instructions.

Pathetic fuckers if they thought for a second he was anything but the puppeteer. "I'll get to it. Contain the scene."

And then they barked orders to him. Colt leaned back to the wall and listened with a heavy sense of boredom. These motherfuckers. "You done?" He snapped back at them. "Don't fucking call me and shit orders. That's not how this works, Zak. You need me, not the other way around. Now," he growled because these cunts overstepped with him, "Stay in line or the next time a job comes up, you'll be the mark and when I kill you it'll be fucking slow. Painful. I'll keep you alive long enough that you can feel what it's like to be fucked with your own ribs."

He ended the call, mood suddenly darker than it had been in a long time. His own fault for not having stepped in to clear up the building list of names on the death scroll. That would be fixed quickly because he had to bleed this sadism.
