About this listen

Dying isn't what it used to be.

Wes Cooper was dead. Then he wasn't-though he's not exactly alive, either. As an immortal not-ghost, he can transition between this world and the otherplane, which makes him the perfect thief for hire. For 70 years he's made a "living" returning items to their rightful owners, seeing his fair share of the bizarre in the process. But he's never witnessed murder. Until now.

His latest mission brings him more than he bargained for: a very-dead actor who is definitely going to stay that way. It's just Wes's luck that his ex-boyfriend, Detective Hudson Rojas, is assigned to the case. Hudson broke Wes's heart years ago - and could again, given he's rocking a hot silver-fox look that shouldn't be legal.

As they work together to track down the murderer before anyone else gets hurt, it becomes clear Wes and Hudson have unfinished business. And when a secret Hudson's been keeping threatens more than just their happiness, it might mean the end of their not-life together - permanently.

Contains mature themes.

Brilliant

Wes Cooper and Hudson Rojas are as lovable as the mystery and magic are enthralling. Brought to life with wonderful and engaging narration by Greg Boudreaux, Jenn Burke's Not Dead Yet sparkles with pun-tastic banter, second chance romance feels, and a magical world that sucks you in and keeps you absorbed to the very last sentence.

Slow start but a great book

This book has a lot to offer. I nearly put it down at first, but as the investigation got underway, it definitely gained momentum. The one thing I loved best about it was the ace rep. It's great to see a book with layers to the ace experience rather than black-and-white absolutes. A note to sex-averse ace readers: this book does contain described sex.

Characters that suck you in and make you want more

I loved this book. After being apart from 30 years, the characters are brought together by circumstances they can't control. They are forced to acknowledge their pasts and have to start working through all the issues they had that drove them apart. I love the character growth in this book, and how they become better both because they choose to be better people and because their relationship means being better for each other.

Brilliant

I adored this performance and Greg Boudreaux is a favourite. Loved the familiar Toronto setting and cultural references. I hadn’t realized how amazing it feels to see yourself in the setting and people when reading. I adored the characters and the unique story line. Thank you to both author and performer. Highly recommended

Very good!!

This is a new to me author, but the book sounded good, so I took a chance and am I ever glad I did.

One MC is an almost ghost and the other is a vampire, recipe for disaster. Add in that they had once been in a relationship, toss in several murders... mayhem ensues.

What I especially liked was the slow burn as the MC's faced what went wrong before, accept that they aren't the same as they once were, and realize that the love they once felt was still there.

The narrator was excellent. Great story telling and voices. The only problem I had was at one point where more than one woman spoke, they sounded the same. But that wasn't enough for me to knock down any stars. He deserved all 5.

This one is highly recommended, and I look forward to the next installment.

Ghosts, murder, love and.... plot armor.

This fun was a urban-mystery fantasy romance that was mostly very delightful. Wes and Hudson was given such good chemistry both by the author writing the hilarious jabs between the two and the amazing narrator that was Greg Boudreaux (seriously, how does one person give such distinct voices to so many characters?). Most of the story was fantastic, loved all the backstories each main character was given and turning of the plot, it definitely flows every well.

However, the novel towards the final 1/4 headed for eye-rolling cliche land. Protagonist is wanted by every bad guy, bad guy catches friends to force protagonist to comply, protagonist despite better judgement does what bad guys ask to save his friends but at the last moment, bad guy is defeated because....plot armor and..lOvE and FrIeNdShIP, doesn't make any sense but hey, in the end they live happily ever after! Yeah, had double reading speed.

I will say, the performance was spot on, Greg Broudreux brought the characters to life, he gave every single person a distinct voice and quark, one of they best narrators I listened to !

Pathetically BAD. Do Not Purchase

I have to assume positive reviews on this book are fake. It is one of the WORST books I've found on Audible to date (out of hundreds). The main protagonist is whiny, weak, pathetic and annoying. The story draaaaags on and is just so...irritating. The narrator is weak. I wanted to like it and support Canadian artists, but...Zero stars aren't an option so I'm leaving it one. AVOID AVOID AVOID this TERRIBLE publication.
