About this listen

Read by Liz Cheney with 50+ audio source material clips included, Oath and Honor is a gripping first-hand account from inside the halls of Congress as Donald Trump and his enablers betrayed the American people and the Constitution—leading to the violent attack on our Capitol on January 6th, 2021—by the House Republican leader who dared to stand up to it.

In the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump and many around him, including certain other elected Republican officials, intentionally breached their oath to the Constitution: they ignored the rulings of dozens of courts, plotted to overturn a lawful election, and provoked a violent attack on our Capitol.

Liz Cheney, one of the few Republican officials to take a stand against these efforts, witnessed the attack first-hand, and then helped lead the Congressional Select Committee investigation into how it happened. In Oath and Honor, she tells the story of this perilous moment in our history, those who helped Trump spread the stolen election lie, those whose actions preserved our constitutional framework, and the risks we still face.

Should be required reading in every school/college/university.

This brought me to tears a number of times. I’m a Canadian. When the States sneezes, we get a full-on cold. I fear for what our future holds, if Trump gets in again. We need more Liz’s and Adam’s to stand up.

Riveting

With a calm, strong yet nurturing voice, Liz Cheney narrates the riveting events that resulted solely by or for Donald Trump, and his inability to conceede victory when defeated. That history is written by the victor is a sad omen knowing how powerful a draw Trump is on his followers and politicians eager to keep their status and power. Liz Cheney has done right by her oath to the constitution by putting into words the conclusions and the truth as she uncovered it. Anyone wanting to get close to the truth should read this book. At least now, it is there for everyone to read. Liz Cheney was a very balsy woman when there were very few balls left.

New information on just how corrupt the Republican Party is.

FAR too much praise for people testifying in the January 6th trials. Other than the Mother and Daughter from Georgia who were targeted and threatened and lied about by POTUS & his cowardly supporters, no one on his staff was heroic in testifying. His staff sat blithely by while Trump riled up the country by lying about the election. They did not speak up. They did not call him out. It wasn’t until they realized that what he caused on Jan. 6th would reflect poorly on them, negatively affect their own careers and lives, that they came forward. Nothing courageous in that. They enabled Trump to do what he did. They supported him throughout his presidency, knowing he was a liar, corrupt, stupid, a threat to democracy. They all knew. They did NOTHING. Liz’s ongoing praise of these “brave women” is sickening to me. Women who followed a rapist, gladly. Defended him. A narcissistic sociopath. Liz thinks they are an example for other women?
They are not.
They are Republicans who see nothing wrong in doing what’s wrong as long as it gains you power.
America is not what it once was.
It isn’t a democracy. It isn’t an example of what other countries should strive to be.
It is a sign of what corrupt people can do when given power.
America is an example and a warning to the world that absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Just the facts

May the population at large hear the message and head the warning of this carefully crafted account of a most difficult time in American history. Praying for a peaceful and democratic future ahead.

Common Sense

I am Canadian so have watched helpless and voiceless while the very bad judgment and conduct, and greed and entitlement of Americans has threatened the world. This book should bring shame to anyone who ever supported Trump (which includes Liz Cheney); as this is ALL their fault. If America is so great - how can this be happening? Is there no one smart enough to outsmart an obvious idiot like Donald Trump?

Excellent, important, obvious.

This is a superb work from an intelligent, brave, patriotic leader. She does everything possible to lay out the overwhelming evidence against the most dangerous, evil man in the world. History will be impressed with Cheney.

A challenging yet incomplete story

The author, while no doubt courageous and a person of great integrity, would have completed this report by examining what it is in the history and character of America that allows a person such as Donald Trump to rise to the position of president, and for so many elected officials to assume such influential roles. These questions are entertained more comprehensively in the books of Mitt Romney, Cassidy Hutchinson and Tim Alberta, to name three.
