About this listen

Kelsey Adams is alone, and has been since childhood. Running away is all she knows and necessary to preserve her deepest, darkest secret. She cannot afford for anyone to get close, or know about the monster within. But when she lands a lucrative job as an administrative assistant to Kyle Westin, CEO of the Westin Foundation, her life changes and everything's at stake. Can she conceal her growing feelings and her true self from this enigmatic, strong willed man, or will her world fall apart?

Kyle Westin, an alpha male who always gets what he wants, has watched and waited for the little she-wolf he knows is his perfect mate to show any signs of recognition. For two years he endures her unnecessary formality and daily rejections with a patience he did not know he possessed. But even Kyle has his limits.... Can he make Kelsey notice him as someone other than her boss and break down the walls she built around her heart? Or will Kelsey do what she has always done - run?

Contains mature themes.

A Good Shifter Romance

Story is good, a bit predictable, but good. The world building is pretty good.

The narrators were great, other than it was sometimes hard to tell if the characters were talking out loud or telepathically.

This story has:
• love/attraction at first sight
• light levels of steamy scenes
• HEA
• no cheating
• no cliffhangers
• it does gently set up for the next book in the series

Many corny moments

Kelsey starts off annoyingly oblivious. But the story gets better. The time jump in the beginning chapters was jarring, but as things come to light, it begins to flow a little smoother.

Not a huge overall fan of the narrators.

Good story if you don’t like conflict

Narration was great, even though they seem to infantilize sub characters until their characters became the main character. The story is nice if you don’t want to deal with mystery or conflict, it’s a true romance series, if that’s what you’re looking for. I didn’t love all the talk about ““ God, are the idea of a monotheistic creator. If you’re looking for a spicy Christian romance, this is probably for you, but not for me. I enjoyed all of the books because I became the catch of the characters, but I won’t listen to them again because it just left me feeling a little bit gross.

✌️✌️✌️ updating this one day later. I thought about it and I think the thing that I hate about this series is the ideal of. ‘ Female exceptionalism.’. The idea that if a female character wants to stand beside an ‘ alpha male’ she has to be truly exceptional in any and every way. It’s 2024, we are beyond the idea that we have to be exceptional to be equal to a male, and according to story”s ideals, we have to be exceptional to be equal to who presents as in pretty much adequate. Might speak to a lot of you. Hold true to the belief that a female is still the secondary character in life, but a lot of us are beyond that and the idea that we have to be in love with somebody who thinks that we are “” good enough, isn’t realistic anymore.

A simple wolf love story very tame (fade to black spice)

I’m use to very spicy wolf/ shifter books so it was almost hard to listen to such a PG book, good for young adults.

Well done

In the early parts of this book, I balked at the ‘differences’ I heard as I listened. I was being so stubborn about all the previous Shifter laws I had read or listened to. But I as I do, I listened to just a bit more to see if I would change my mind. When I realized I seriously looked forward to hearing every word being spoken. I appreciated the story of love, of acceptance, of looking past what had been deemed characteristics of weakness as strength. I appreciated the descriptions of lovemaking without it being a step by step iteration. This is a book or a tale I appreciate. Thank you for your work in compiling this adventure.

Immature

It was one of those books that I kept waiting for it to get better. But then maybe it was just written for the pre-teen crowd. Either way I stuck it out to the end as I hate “closing” a book without finishing it. It finally finished.

Liked the storyline

I was starting to get sick of alpha werewolf books, they were all the same. The alpha in this story was different I want to listen to the to the end. The female character was a little whiny. That would be my complaint but overall, I enjoyed the book and could not stop listening. Narration was very good.

Toxic sexist crap

Love interest stalks MC at night watching her nude and it’s supposed to show his love - we shouldn’t be shown this as if it’s something to accept.
Constant Jealousy and possessiveness is used to show the extent of love - that’s just wrong.
Love interest is constantly hiding info and planning everything on his own without including the individual concerned- again, really bad relationship behaviour.

It was certainly a good representation of everything I’d say is wrong, toxic, and damaging in how to be with a partner.
A good case of stupid simplistic storytelling too.
Couldn’t finish it was so bad.
