A well told story

Kel continues to be an impressive young adult character. I like this book for it's place in the overall Tortall Universe, and there are some great themes throughout. The characters are well rounded and it's great to get a perspective on well known characters in the universe who make cameos, from Kel's viewpoint. Again, the narration was alright. The voice for Kel was still kind of grating, but the male voices improved somewhat. I do hope that the narrator gives Kel a bit of a more mature voice in the next two books...but otherwise, I think Tamora Pierce hit a good stride with this book and it was nice to hear it being read to me so many years after I had first read it.
