What if Ariel had never defeated Ursula?
It's been five years since the infamous sea witch defeated the little mermaid...and took King Triton's life in the process. Ariel is now the voiceless queen of Atlantica, while Ursula runs Prince Eric's kingdom on land. But when Ariel discovers her father might still be alive, she finds herself returning to a world - and a prince - she never imagined she would see again.

Ten years ago this season, Gregory Maguire wrapped up the series he began with Wicked by giving us the fourth and final volume of the Wicked Years, his elegiac Out of Oz. Amazing!
I was admittedly unsure how much I would enjoy it, despite my friend's love of it. But it sticks so well to the original Disney story and flows from it very smoothly!

Part of Your World by Liz Braswell
What if Ariel had never defeated Ursula? Five years after the (twisted) events of the film, Ariel is now the queen of Atlantica, and Ursula is running Eric's kingdom on land. But when the sea witch threatens Atlantica once more, Ariel finds herself returning to a world (and a prince) she thought she'd left behind forever.
Liz Braswell has done it again! She’s taken a favorite Disney movie of mine and gave it a good twist to see what could’ve happened had things gone wrong in The Little Mermaid. In Part of Your World, we learn how things would’ve been had Ursula won and Ariel lost everything. What’s so fun with these stories is how much could’ve changed with one little moment, though it wasn’t entirely clear why things didn’t play out like in the movie, I figured it was best not to think too hard on that because the point of this series is to give new endings!
Writing style
I really liked how we got to see different perspectives from characters other than Ariel and Eric. For the most part though, the story was told from Ariel and Eric’s point of view and Ursula coming in at third. It was interesting getting all the different perspectives and made the ease of story-telling that much clearer.
Plot
Even though the plot is a pretty basic good versus evil, it was still entertaining and held my attention till the very end. They characters were pretty good. Nothing short of what I would expect from Disney. Even though the characters were already established, the author still manages to make them her own.
I couldn’t put it down. Finished it in 3 days.

Phenomenal!!
I enjoyed this tale immensely, I wish it could be made into a film! I loved the details and how the narrative switched between the 3 main characters in order to gain their perspectives. A must read!!

Magical! Speechless!
I was a little sceptical at first, since the premise of this "Twisted Tales" series sounded a little like fanfiction to me. I ended up LOVING this book more than I can put into words. The Little Mermaid has been my favourite Disney movie since I was little, and this was just an amazing way to follow it up. I will totally be listening to more Twisted Tales, and be recommending these to friends. Now I just have to decide which one to read next.
