About this listen
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.
In Pride and Prejudice, the Bennet sisters try to find their way in the repressive strictures of 19th-century society. Austen shows the folly of judging by first impressions and the experience of falling in love, and she superbly describes a world which, despite being more than two centuries old, still resonates with modern concerns.

Story
Emma can be enjoyed as a charming love story, a detective story, and a comic and lively picture of English life 200 years ago. Austen's beautiful, clever, wilful but fallible heroine Emma Woodhouse believes she knows best. Perfectly content with her life she sees no need for either love or marriage, yet nothing pleases her more than meddling in the romantic lives of others.

Story
When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity. Cloning, feel-good drugs, anti-aging programs, and total social control through politics, programming, and media: has Aldous Huxley accurately predicted our future? With a storyteller's genius, he weaves these ethical controversies in a compelling narrative that dawns in the year 632 A.F. (After Ford, the deity). When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity.

A wonderful classic
I have to admit I had seen a couple of television productions of this work, but I had never read it. I am very happy I did. As I very often find, a movie or television miniseries does not convey everything the book does, especially the psychology of the characters. I was pleased when I realized that Lizzy was very much aware of her father's faults. I most enjoyed the interpretation of the reader.

a good story and a classic for a reason but...
far be it for me to criticize a book over 200 years old to be not of my tasts, yet here I am. I don't regret having listened to the entirety of Pride and Prejudice in as little a time as I could. I do find that the story moralizes far too often. It comes down with a hard and heavy morality on all people with definite pronouncements of everyone's failings as a person and how those failings so affect others. takes me out of the spirit of a love story.

One of my favorites!
Ive read this book twice and am now hearing it for the first time. The narrator brings this story to life in a way that has you sitting on the edge of your seat even if youve read it before and ready know whats going to happen. I loved every second of it and highly recommend getting this!

Such a great story to time travel into
Rosamond Pike has the most lovely and accomplished voice. To hear her play the various characters is additional fun. I’m already quoting a few famous Jane lines (“you use your breath to cool your porridge and I’ll use mine to sail my soul”…plus immediately looking and hoping for more books she may have narrated. It had to be Ms Pike for P and P! :)
