About this listen

Humanity stands at the brink of extinction.

Earth has been bombarded by forces beyond our understanding.

In the aftermath, monsters roam the Earth while humanity is forced into a few small safe zones, but not all is lost.

When the shadows fell, so too did hope. Progentitor rays birthed a new breed of humans, known as supers. Now those few are all that stands between mankind and death upon the claws and fangs of monsters.

World building harem mc who is relatable

over all great value as well as amazing work from the creator, I have many of his book and he has yet to disappoint, if your looking for a harem of super hero this is it , would have like to see other characters like the mc , I feel like his harem get to be a little to big and would have been cool to have a friendly rival that would have help to grow but all and all very good and looking forward to the final book.

I enjoyed this more than I probably should have...

Great story, great characters and I really appreciated the fact that the stats were segregated into their own chapters so they were very easy to skip. I really had no interest in listening to them.

Jonathan and Maeve were amazing narrators. My only gripe is that their were WAYYY too many female characters and it made it difficult to distinguish between some of them. This is no fault on Maeve, she performed amazingly well, there's just only so many accents/different voices an individual can do. Having said that, Queenies voice was like listening to fingernails on a chalkboard... maybe that was the point as she wasn't a likeable character.

All in all, a great story and a FANTASTIC performance by Jonathan and Maeve! I'm really looking forward to book 6!

Great Story so far, well worth the credit

Did not know anything about this series. I enjoy LitRPG and dont mind harem books. So I too the chance to get the 5 books. I really enjoyed it, good story overall, I liked how the MC wanted to figure what was best for himself and team instead of just binding the first woman who threw themselves at him. Thou I don't mind stats, sometimes they can drag on so I liked how the Author left them either at the end of a chapter or had a complete chapter dedicated to them so you could skip if you want. Eagerly wait the finally of the story.

Dialogue so bad it's actually makes you upset.

First off, every conversation in this book sound like how a like there at marriage counseling. Every conversation has some version of positive reinforcement that apparently HAS to be said, it makes every conversation sound stupidly fake.

Second, the main character constantly spouts garbage about "this is how a man should be" or "a man should do ..." which becomes increasingly more annoying as the story progresses.

lastly, the conflict seems so artificial that it completely ruins the story. The guy is the first refractor and most powerful person for the last 100 years but he literally can't do anything. The whole idea that this council can control him when he literally has all the cards is such a ridiculous idea that it's infuriating.

All in all, first book or two were manageable, the rest is just horrendous.
