About this listen

It is no easy thing, to give a person—any one person—the ability to rewrite the truth of power in this world. How could any one being hold in their hands the key to fate and not succumb to the inevitable corruption of such a thing?

Arthur Leywin's quest for the power he knows only as Fate becomes even more pressing as his most dangerous foes gain a terrible new power. When the war between the dragons of Epheotus and the basilisks of Alacrya erupts across Dicathen, the people Arthur cares about most find themselves trapped in a clash of deities. The only way to master Fate and protect them, though, is to place them directly in harm's way in the ultimate gambit.

Disappointed they didn't listen

I have skipped almost every chapter that Elizebeth Evan's narrated. Besides the lack of range that Travis has with different voices her deep breath after almost every other word is maddening. It makes me cringe every time. I know many people have complained about her last book. I'm disappointed they didn't listen to us. That being said the story is good and Travis is still one of the best.

Love the Story...

Love the story, Love Travis Baldree but I unfortunately have to agree with the other reviews about Elizabeth Evans, everything she says seems to be this breathy thought process in the middle of this book it feels like she's trying to turn every character and chapter into a romance novel, I skip over her parts.

skip skip skip

I hate the female voice. It's really ruining the whole story because I have to skip chapters. I use to like most of the female characters but now I just find them all annoying. These last 2 books have really made this series go from my top 3 to me having to force my self multiple times not to quit near the end of this series

Great series, but…

Cecilia has to be the most irritating character. She supplants a great character and has zero work ethic, seems totally incurious with no desire to learn how her unearned powers work, and always has a SwissArmy workaround for whoever or whatever is attacking her or for whoever she is attacking. Pure godmode.

There, I said it.

Otherwise great series. Great narration.

Could have been great, if not for podium

Travis, as always, did a great job. All of his bits are great, but Evans chapters are leaning more toward skipping.
Podium audio has severely failed here.

They took what could have been gold and managed to make a good chunk of it worthless because they didn't get Evans to lean into Travis Baldree's pre-existing voices, which are for the most part, iconic and consistent. With Travis, you can tell by voice alone who is talking. When Evans does a voice that's entirely different, it comes off as jarring regardless of how good the voices are.

The direction is at fault, which means podium is at fault.

Besides the voice acting, the book is quite good, but that just makes me want to return it so I can get the story in text instead. If I can't stand listening to a third of the audiobook, it's probably not worth getting it in audio format. I would recommend skipping this one.
