About this listen

When an elderly woman is shot in what appears to be a tragic accident, Shetland detective Jimmy Perez is called to investigate the mystery.

The sparse landscape and the emptiness of the sea have bred a fierce and secretive people. As Jimmy looks to the islanders for answers, he finds instead two feuding families whose envy, greed and bitterness have lasted generations. Then there's another murder and, as the spring weather shrouds the island in claustrophobic mists, Jimmy must dig up old secrets to stop a new killer from striking again....

Another great Shetland book!

Ann Cleeves is a great author of detective stories creating really good rounded out characters and settings. Keeps your interest throughout and always guessing. Was surprised at the perpetrator. Will read again and definitely more of her books. Narrator was very good and will look for him again

Another great Shetland story

The Shetland series by Ann Cleeves is a favourite of mine. The stories are well developed and the characters believable. Stories such as this one are set in remote Shetland communities, and Cleeves's writing describes the landscape and the characters relationship to it very well.

The narration by Kenny Blyth is wonderful, again!

Red Bones

I found some of the book very slow moving. Not my favourite Ann Cleeves story. . I was finally glad when the killer was revealed.. Not as good as some of her books but just ok..

ok

I thought it was an improvement on the previous installment, but it also solidified my belief that this series isn't really for me. It was ok, but I find the setting claustrophobic. A small island filled with awful people. And wow, were they awful. Not a sympathetic character among them, except maybe the protagonist? Anyway, glad I don't live on Shetland! I don't think I'd survive it...
